Meeting with Photographers

Hey Knottie's

I am starting to meet with photographers now for my June 2012 wedding. I met with one last week and was totally lost on whatexactly to ask or talk about. Do you ladies have any tips so I can make sure that I did/am asking the right questions?

Thanks

Yes :)  I am the girl that all my friends come to when considering their photographer.  I was EXTREMELY picky when I selected mine.

    QUESTIONS
    1) Do I the bride get the copyrights to the photographs
    2) Do you shoot with a FULL FRAME SENSOR camera
    3) What rules do you have on the wedding day if any at all.
    4) How many weddings have you shot
    5) A list of 12 brides names, phone numbers and email address's
    6) Camera model & lens list

I used Christopher Brock for my wedding day.  I was 100% pleased.  He was amazing.  He might have your date available since it is in 2012.

    His site is www.chrisbrock.org

Never the less.  Questions 1 through 5 are the most important.  There are a TON of wedding photographers out there.  A lot of good ones too.  The key will be to find one that is reasonably priced, with a long resume in wedding photography & that has your date available :)

Lori is right on with her questions ! I would add:

    1) Will you personally be my photographer? Do you ever outsource?
    2) Do you have back-up equipment? If so, what is your back-up camera(s)?

    3) Can other people take photos during the wedding and/or reception?
    4) Do you have liability insurance? (some venues require it and it's best to have regardless.)
    5) What do you consider to be your photographic style?
    6) How long will it take before my photos are ready for viewing?
    7) Will I have any creative imput in the design of my wedding album? Will I get a proof of it before it is printed?
    8) What do you wear on the day of the wedding?
    9) Can I see a complete album from one of your previous weddings from beginning to end?
    10) Can I provide you with a list of specific shots that I would like?

    Best of luck to you!

Rebecca that is a great list!  Between both of our list's just about any bride can weed out the photographers not worth using :)

Thank you ladies! These are some great questions that I never would have thought of. I'm positive I can weed out the good from the bad with these questions.

I understand why you would ask most of these questions but out of curiosity, why do you care what make or model their camera is and why does it matter if it's full frame sensor? who even knows what that means?
