How many will show?

Our list is around 200. We have invited family through first cousins (and their kids) and about 20 friends. With the exception of about 6 families in California, these are all people that we see fairly regularly. We are getting married on a Friday if that makes a difference. I know for food and space, we need to plan on 100% attendance but does anyone know what % usually shows?

There is no such thing as a usual number who don't show. That is why you plan on 100% attending.

I found this online at http://www.fresnoweddingsguide.com. Can't vouch for it.

Take the total number of people you have invited and multiply that number by .66 and multiply that number by 1.15.

Example: 300 invited x .66 = 198 x 1.15 = 228 people expected. This formula has a 90% accuracy rate.

<div>Goodluckbear is right - there is no way to predict a number. But, to give you an idea, we also invited about 200 people, through first cousins and their kids. We have had about 80 percent of people RSVP yes. However, I was just a BM in a wedding where about 130 people of over 200 came. Last year, I attended a wedding where 115 out of about 200 came. I've also been to a wedding where 450 out of 500 people came. It just varies so much. If you are looking for a percentage, our venue told us to estimate that 65-70 percent of guests will attend, but again that is just a ballpark figure.</div>

We had around half show up, but I think it depends on a lot of variables. Most people have much higher attendance. We are both older and it was a destination wedding in the host city during a major sporting event. That said, my husband's nephew had a big wedding about a year ago and 100% attended. They were just out of college and the wedding was in their hometown.
Also, you may want to ask your venue what their prep policy is, some over prepare by 10% just in case.

This is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen. Not only is it not true, but why in the world would you have to multiple twice...first by .66 then by 1.15? Why couldn't you multiple the original number by .759? You would get the same result. Duh.

</div><div>I was told early on when DD #1 got married to plan for 100% attendance even though ALL of our vendors told us to expect 70%ish. I followed the 100% plan, thank God. Her wedding was in the middle of Winter, weather wasn't good. Our DD who got married in late May (not on holiday weekend) only had about 67%ish show. You just can't use those formulas!

Ha this is one of the silliest things I've seen posted about this. There is no formula because every single person's guest list and situation is different. And how would anyone prove it had a 90% accuracy rate? Don't believe everything you see on the Internet.

There is no formula. You just have to know your guests, and make your best guess about who will attend and who won't. But as PPs have said, be prepared for 100% attendance.

Thank you! We were hoping for everyone to be able to make it but didn't know if Friday weddings typically had more no's. Now, the hard part, being patient.
