Hair/Make-Up Trial Advice

Did anyone skip the hair and make-up trial?  I hate to spend an extra bunch of money when I won't be doing bridals or even engagements but I also don't want something crazy to happen on my head or face the day of the wedding.

I always recommend a trial based on my experience. I hated my first trial and switched artists completely. If I had looked like that on my wedding day, I would have been very diissapointed.
  • My MUA was a girl who had been cutting and styling my hair for about a year, so I was completely comfortable with her, and even telling her when she did something I didn't like. I technically did have a trial run, but it was for my bridal portraits, and I would have been just as happy the day of the wedding. The most important factor for me is that I knew she was talented, I was comfortable with her, she knew my hair, and we would have allotted a lot of extra time the day of in case something went wonky.
But also in general I'm not that picky about my looks.
  • On the other hand, if you're confident in the stylist's talent and ability to do what you want, you should be able to show her a picture and she'll go with it.  If you're not sure how you want your hair (up, down, somewhere in between), I say DEFINITELY do a trial run.

  • I skipped the trial. I didn't want to spend the money either. I think if you find a reputable enough hair / makeup artist it won't be an issue. I used Angie Williams and it was perfect, no trial necessary. I highly recommend her if you have the budget.
