We are going to have a song in between the pastor's remarks and exchange of vows - either "When God Made You" or "I Will Be Here."  It breaks up a bit of the monotony since the pastor talks, then music, then the vows.  I like music to break things up, it helps the audience to have a mental break and pay more attention to the next thing (the vows).  Other than that your list looks a lot like mine... :-)

fpaemp2011 - is all of that going on your program, if you're having one?

Yep.  We're doing more of a booklet style since we'll have a page describing the Covenant we're signing, a page listing our Wedding Party and family, etc.  What I c&p'd was the itinerary from FI's dad, so some of it will be worded differently, but it's all going in there...

Thanks for posting, Emily!  We're going to work on ours with our pastor in another 2 months so we still have some time but I really appreciated looking at yours.

Our pastor gave us like 4 or 5 different sample programs and they all have things a bit differently -- some are more intricate like Emily's where there are several different things happening, and some are more simple (like NO songs, no unity candle/sand).  It's interesting how many different ways it can be done!

  • We kept it simple as best as we could, but in the ceremony we'll have music playing at certain parts, and we'll have some scripture.  Here's the outline:

    Processional
    Greeting
    Presentation of the Bride
    Exchange of Vows / Rings
    Unity
    Pronouncement of Marriage

Ours will be like this, I also apologize for the font because of copy & pasting from word.  Lots of the guests won't be church-y so we are laying a lot of it out in the program instead of having people flip between their program and the hymn/liturgy book.  Also it's not formatted yet, this is just the outline.

One change from most of the ones posted so far is there is no "Giving away of the bride" or "Presentation of the bride".  We don't do it in our church anymore and it's not something I would want anyways.

Wow, I'd better get on the ball! I have NO CLUE about the order of my ceremony haha. I am still deciding on music. Maybe when we meet with my pastor for premarital counseling (soon), she might have a recommendation/suggestion.

Those all look good! And you're right, Kelly- it's interesting how many different ways it can be done!
