You will get a kick out of this!

Ok I am not gonna go into too much detail in case this person is on here.
Ok so this person we know just got engaged and bought a house, and got everything they needed (new)
Their shower is coming up,they said they were gonna register for everything they already had  and take it all back to get the cash!!! I thought this is so rude! I mean people go out of their way to go to those stupid stores and search around for the perfect gift off your registery, and wrap it....etc. and you are gonna turn around and take it all back for all the cash? Ugh!

I am just so upset, and a little jealous that they could afford to buy everything they needed. When I am having a shower because when we moved in and got hand-me-downs and dollar store utensils.Trust me I am glad we got that, but I cant wait to get nice new stuff that doesnt break all the time.

Good luck trying to get cash back. I'm pretty sure that plan is going to backfire on her. We only got cash back for a couple things (that wasn't our intention) but mostly we got store credit.

    Your siggy pic is adorable.

Ditto to what Mink said - it was hit or miss when it came to getting cash, sometimes they would give it to us, other times they wouldn't. Plus, I had a bunch of ppl who bought things similar to what was on our registry, but not exact & I when I went to return it, I couldn't figure out where they bought it from!

If I were her guest, I'd be pretty ticked if I found out...

I was going to say the same thing!! Most stores will only give you store credit for the things you return on your registry. Smart thing for them (the money stays with the store).

I agree it's super rude! If you want money anyway, why not just not do a registry? or do a small one just for your bridal shower of things that you may not have bought to begin with???

Weddings are becoming more about the gifts and the party rather than the marriage...... it's sad!

    Ditto everything PP said.

    * depending on my relationship with her and what I wanted my relationship to continue with her- I would say something- if not to her parents then to her BP-- but then again I am a b!tch. I just can't see letting someone do that to other people. It's outrageously rude and she needs a swift wake-up call. *

If I found out the bride was going to be sending my gift back to get the money, I probably wouldn't be attending the wedding. But like pp said, I don't think you can get cash back on everything. Maybe you should tell her that. Or maybe not, then she'll be screwed! Karma is a b!tch!

Yea Im not gonna tell her.I would rather her try to take it back and get screwed.lol
I thought if you register at BB&B and it is bought from your registry, you can get cash back? But you guys are maybe saying that only some things you can get cash back from BB&B?

Tacky.  And don't tell her.  Let her find out on her own.

I don't know how others aren't going to figure out what she's doing?  I mean, won't friends and family wonder why she's registering for stuff she already has?

Must be nice to have that kind of money...

Right Jholbel,Well family I guess has already asked her why she is having a shower. And she was getting upset.

Its fine to have a shower and she can ask for things that she doesn't have or extras of things like sheets and towels. But seriously just to take it back and try and get cash? That's really rude.

And ditto about her not having success with the plan. If you felt like being nice you could mention that it probably won't work. And what's her plan for the inevitable gifts that weren't on a registry? Or handmade?

And why are people so damn self-centered - if she's got so much stinking money that she doesn't need anything, then she should find a way to donate to charity or something. Or just call it a brunch and just get together with family/friends - no gifts. Grrrr.
