Favorite Scents?

My living room currently smells delightful.  I have two Yankee Candles going. One is mistletoe, the other balsam fir.  It got me thinking about how I always associate apple-cinnamon smells with autumn, butterscotch and pine with Christmas (i know.  a tad weird), wet dirt smell = spring, vinegar reminds me of easter eggs, and chinese food smells like valentine's day.  Just odd associations I've made over the years.

Do you have smells?  My sister says she doesn't.  Everything is taste based for her.

Yes, he's called my husband ;)

I always love the smell of wood burning on a cool night, it reminds me camping.

<div>HA!  mine too.  Hence the spendy yet delightfully smelly candles.  He's out with the boys this evening eating crappy food so I'm just priming the house.  ;)</div>
  • Mine is watching the Ohio State game, so he plied me with popcorn.

I'm pinning and hanging out here.

  • I'm allergic to most artificial scents, so I don't really do candles. :(

    My favorite smells?
    - DH about 30 minutes after his shower
    - bread/cookies/brownies baking in the oven
    - basil, cinnamon, and garlic (not together, obviously)
    - paper fresh off the printer/copier

I associate certain foods with holidays more than smells.

Me too, especially when he'e wearing his Gucci cologne.

I also love the smell of garlic and onions sauteeing.

ETA: and coffee brewing in the morning. I also have certain lotions and washes that remind me of vacations.

[QUOTE]Oh I love H's cologne.  Polo Sport. I think they cut back on making it because it's really hard to find :(

If you can, check out perfumemania. When I used to wear a specific perfume and stores quit carrying it, I was always able to find it there, along with other scents that I hadn't seen in more 'normal' stores. Worth a shot.

As far as candles go, I love Honeysuckle from Yankee Candle as well as another Apple pie type candle, but I can't remember it's exact name.

Random scents, I love the way tack rooms smell as well as a clean barn (straw, hay, shavings, leather, etc). It's more of a comforting smell since I spent most of my youth working in barns and really enjoyed my job.  I also like DH's shampoo smell.
