Winter Ceremony Venue Ideas???

Hello!
Seeking ideas for a winter ceremony venue.  We're struggling to find locations for the ceremony only.  Planning a small (approx 50 people) evening ceremony.  We're trying to keep the venue fee as low as possible, but at max $2000.
Thanks for the help!

Here's a couple ideas, not sure what sort of vibe you're looking for:

    Como Conservatory

     Cowles Conservatory

Both of the conservatories are beautiful, but keep in mind with Como that seating is limited basically only to those who can't stand for any length of time.  Cowles does have bench seating for approximately 30 people, plus you can bring in 10 chairs of your own.  But if you're doing an evening ceremony, or any ceremony after 3:00, you have to pay the reception permit price, which is way higher.  I'm getting married at Cowles in April, so I've checked all this stuff out.

Another option would be to rent one of the restored courtrooms at the Landmark Center.  The building is absolutely beautiful, but renting one of the courtrooms is much more cost effective ($200/hour with a 2 hour minimum I think).  They have several available, all of different sizes, and provide the chairs.  We're actually doing our fall ceremony in the Bulter Room there next September.  The rooms are so beautiful you hardly need to add additional decorations.

Not sure which part of the cities you are looking at but, I am getting married Nov 2011 at Dahlgreen Golf Club in Chaska, MN.  It is beautiful and a bit rustic in nature.  The "ballroom" is able to accomodate up to 250 guests but would be perfect for a smaller wedding too.

The rental fee is dependant on  your guest size but the max is $450.  (Includes linens, table settings and use of any decor they have)  No food and bev mins but you do have to use their caterer as it is a resturant.  Ave PP is around $17.  They only do plated meals for smaller groups so I don't know if 50 is small enough, but they do buffets for all larger groups.

If this is something that sounds like you would like, PM me and I can send you a link to my photo album of the place

    Good LUCK!

Como Conservatory should hold 50.  They'll only give you 10 seats though, everyone else stands.  Depending on if that is a problem or not for your guests, it might not be best.  However, it is BEAUTIFUL and within your budget.

Have you checked out the U of M's Arboretum in Chaska? It's gorgeous, and they have a few different rooms of varying sizes.  I was in love with the fireplace room, but our wedding ended up being too big (like 250 guest list too big.)

The little greenhouse was awesome; full length windows around the entire room, but I don't see pictures on the website.

As someone who got married in November- don't forget to ask for off-season discounts! Even from florists, photographers, DJs, whoever.

Check out WA Frost's in St. Paul, the decor is already stunning in the winter and the scenery around Selby Ave makes you feel like you are in a victorian era especially if it is snowing.  I personally know because my sister was married there in January with about 35 people.  It was beautiful.
