FMIL UPDATE! (good)

So FI talked to his mom today! She is super apologetic and everything is better. I don't even know where to start.

The pastor talked to her, and FI's aunt, who is on the church board, also did, and I think they got it through her head that no one was really going to care about not being invited to the wedding like she thought they were going to care. She was getting all worried for no reason.

She apologized to FI, but he told her that she needed to apologize to me too, because she sent the email to me not just him, and I took several things personally. She didn't mean for a lot of it to be taken the way that I took it, but regardless it sure seeemed that way. Apparently she was never really mad at me, but rather mad at my FI.

Also, she and FI are not going to do the M/S dance, but she just doesn't want to do it. She doesn't want to sway, she wants to do something fun, and that's not what FI wants or logistically possible to plan and choreograph. She does not care if my dad and I want to have our dance, so he and I will be doing that. Yay!

This is such a weight off my shoulders now. Now I'm just waiting for FMIL to call or email me.

On a less happy note, FI went to the dentist today as well, and found out he needs about 3K worth of dental work. =/

Booooo to dental work

Buuuuut YAY to the update and the good progress with FMIL!!! Im so happy for you and FI to see that fences are being mended and that everyone is moving past it happily. What a great relief Iam sure.

Don't even worry about the dental work. It needs to be done, so yall will endure that part. But the FMIL stuff? That's just great news! So glad you can be a bride who enjoys the days leading up to your big day instead of carrying that burden around. Yay!

I'm glad it worked out. You definitely deserve a sincere apology though. There is no justification to that childish email she sent you.

I had a (rather harsh) speech with my parents about how I'll drop them like a hot potato if they irritate me, or make drama where there doesn't need to be. I think my mom got the picture, and would rather be included in the planning, than just a guest at her only daughter's wedding. I think I scared her a bit... in a good way!

Glad you're feeling so much better about everything!

That does suck about the dental work, not that it ever could come at a good time but right before the wedding seems especially not good. At least it sounds like he's going to get it taken care of, it would get even worse if he neglected it.

That is awesome!! You have been through so much with this and I am glad to hear things are better with plenty of time before the wedding. It will make for a much better last month and a half.

Thank you for all the replies ladies. You are all so kind and I'm glad you're here for me on this.

Another update: she just emailed me and personally apologized. She kind of gave justification for the reasons she did what she did, which is fine, and I did the same. At the end of it all she was asking about WR things and moving along, and that's what I wanted- just for all of this to be done so we can get back to planning and not have an elephant in the room!

And yes, FI has 3 cavities and needs a few crowns. They also want him to have his widsom teeth removed, although he is not presently experiencing any pain. So we will do them in that order based on the dentist's suggestion: cavities, crowns, wisdom teeth.

Oh and the 3K is with insurance included (so really it's like 4K+) and it's without the cost of the wisdom teeth removal factored in, so who knows how much that will cost. Medical insurance may help some with that though, since it's surgery, but we won't know until he goes for a consultation.

That super sucks on the dental work, but at least they broke it down in order of importance, so he can have it done in parts it sounds like? I can't believe how much medical/dental is, even with insurance (and we actually have no dental insurance...yikes).
