best all inclusive?

So far the only one I have heard about and talked to people about that have actually gone is Secrets Wild Orchid in Jamaica. They were able to go in october for like 4 or 5 nights, airfare included for $2400. I would love to find a deal like that but it doesnt seem to be possible in April. Closer to $5000 for both of us.

I like what she told me about her trip, laid back, good food, quiet beach, pool bar. I want to have a comfortable room, and laid back beach time with drinks! Oh and definitelt kid free! That's non-negotiable.

Does anyone have any suggestions on great resorts? I'm scared to pick a different one without hearing about other people experiences.

Re: best all inclusive?

  • Are you only looking for Jamaica?  You could also look in Mexico.  FI and I booked Excellence Resort in Playa Mujeres (just outside Cancun).  We did alot of research on our own and it seems like a great place.  FI friends also went there for their honeymoon and reco'd it.

Also, there are a couple of Secrets Resorts in Mexico as well.
  • We spent 7 days and nights in July at Palace Isla Mujeres in Mexico and it was so great and secluded. It's just a little island off the coast of Cancun, and the privacy is great. Overall with flights, the resort, excursions, and tips, we spent 3100.
  • Check out Couples Swept Away, Couples Negril, Couples Tower Isle, or Couples Sans Souci in Jamaica. Check out Secrets Royal Beach in Punta Cana or Excellence Resort in Punta Cana. Also, there is Secrets Maroma and Secrets Capri; El Dorado Seaside Suites, El Dorado Maroma, El Dorado Casitas Royale; Excellence Riviera Cancun- all in the Riviera Maya area of Mexico. I have not been to Punta Cana, but I have been two of the Couples Resorts and a few of the Secrets Resorts. I would lean toward Couples Swept Away or Couples Negril; Secrets Maroma and Secrets Capri; or El Dorado Maroma.

  • And just FYI, Sandals resorts always get great reviews, but they can be overpriced. I think you can find comparable resorts for less.
  • -Secrets Maroma Beach in Riveria Maya
-Iberostar Grand Paraiso in Riveria Maya (Iberostar has several hotels on the resort ground; I only recommend staying at the Grand)
-Ibersotar Grand Bavaro in Pun!ta Cana, Dominican Republic (ditto staying at the Grand)
-Secrets Capri in Playa del Carmen
  • a few years ago dh and i stayed at the adult only private section of the occidental grand xcaret (private beach, pool, restaurant, area of the resort). we had full run of the rest of the resort-the huge part, but only royal section members could be in our part. nice and quiet.

for new years week this year we are headed to the royal suites yucatan which is the private adults only section of the huge palladium group of resorts. we have our own pool, beach area, restaurant but have full run of the 4 other resorts attached. can't wait!!

the royal in cancun and in playa del carmen always get great reviews as well.

  • We've been to three Sandals on different islands as well as The Royal in Cancun. My top choice of those four is The Royal. Reviews and pics of all in link above my siggy pic.

Okay, so I totally missed the point that your budget is not $5K, that's what it's looking cost wise. If that is the case, I think Sandals is totally out.  April is an expensive time of year to travel to the Caribbean. In fact, I just booked a trip to Puerto Rico for April. The room rate is almost double from what it is now and a few less promotions as well. I still think you may be able to pull off Secrets Capri. I helped my brother look into there for his HM and for 9 nights in July, is was just over $3K. That didn't include airfare, but I'm assuming you also wouldn't do 9 nights either.

  • I've been to two Sandals resorts, which was great but I agree with cwag that you can get just as good an AI for cheaper.  DH and I went to the Sun Palace in Feb in Cancun.  I'd recommend it.  We went during school vacation week in Feb and it was $4k total.
  • We're going to the Royal Playa del Carmen for 12 days in May. It's all-inclusive, has excellent reviews (I know 2 people who went here for their HM also), and is adults-only. We have an ocean-view room and we're paying under $5000 including airfare.
