This name change stuff..

Ok, so I remember very clearly that the DMV is conveniently closed on Fridays (thank you, Monica!) lol ... I went to the SS office today, so that is taken care of. Do I have to wait for my new SS card to be able to change my license/CC/student stuff/etc?? Or do I just need my marriage certificate or some other form of proof?

All you should need is your marriage certificate for the DMV. I would contact your school to ask what they require. Some things are good with just your marriage license and some want to see proof f ID (SS card or license) in your new name. HTH

Did the SS office need to see your original SS card? Mine is at my parents house in Iowa so I wasn't sure if I needed to wait to get my old card or not?

I had my original SS with me, but I'm not sure if they NEEDED it. I had my birth certificate, passport, SS, driver's license and laid it all out on the counter. He did take my license and SS so it's probably better if you have it. Or just call ahead of time and double check so you don't waste a trip.

^ditto this. I had my SS card and license and they did take both of them. I'm not sure if I neeeeeeded it, but I wouldn't have risked going without it then making a second trip. IMHO, I would call or wait until you have the SS card then go.

Oh I can't wait for this fun to start! Which DMV is closed on fridays? I think the one near me is still open or it said so on the sign they have posted.

I'm not excited to go to SS. Because I went 4 times in one month for a new card and this was 5 months ago and they still have yet to send me any of the cards. And each time I go they say *giggle* another glitch in the system. I guess I'll have to find a SS in Syracue oh that's guna be a fun drive.

I went to the DMV in North Syracuse. I think it said they were open until 6 Mon-Thurs. Although, I'm assuming all of them are closed this Monday for Labor Day. Hope nobody goes! I went to the SS office in downtown Syracuse, but I don't live too far. I was out in less than an hour though. Scary place lol Hopefully no "glitches"

Downtown Rome is no better I'm going to try downtown Syracue in November. It's the next closest one to me.
