He is in the military she isn't. 

Noo this iss not me and FI.

    My fiance' calls me his wife.
    He finaly gave up saying fiancee because people were like.. "dude shut up you're married" (we're not.. we jjust live together and own our house and finances together.)
    I know that's not the point of your post.. It just makes me giggle whenever he does, because I know  he loves calling me his fiancee and everyone [in the squadron] gives him sh*t so he doesn't get to :P

    Honestly, you can call your SO whatever you want as long as you don't lie to people about the nature of your relationship.  As long as everyone knows they are not actually married yet, I don't see a problem with it.  Even then, it probably wouldn't be a legal issue as much as a moral issue.

    hah yeah not online.. that would confuse the crap outta people. Just all the people he works with because they like me more than him ;) hehehe. Poor guy all deployment kept getting, "why the hell didn't you marry her before you left?!!? Now she's going to leave you!  " 7 months of that gets old.

    My fiance and I don't do this.  But if you aren't misleading people about your relationship status then I don't see how it is a problem.

    I still sometimes refer to my FI as boyfriend. God help me when I have to start saying husband because I can't even transition to FI and we've been engaged for over a year.

    **although the FI thing might have to do with the seinfeld episode,everytime I say FI I think of that episode, Kudos to anyone who knows which episode I'm talking about :)

    It may seem backwards, but you could lead everyone to believe you are married even when you aren't with no legal repercussions (though your friends may think you strange). The reason is that by being married legally but presenting yourself as unmarried implies that you are defrauding the military to get financial benefits. So the military has an incentive to prosecute, so it doesn't have to pay bogus dependent support. Whereas you'd be getting no benefits by pretending you're married so they wouldn't care. And obviously 'wifey' and 'hubby' are common terms of endearment among couples.

    Right after we got married H called me his GF, and I just said "not for a while now buddy". My aunt who's been married for 30 some odd years calls her H her BF, like "I have a date with my BF tonight". You're allowed to call your SO whatever you want, BF, FI, Hubs, Sh!thead (the last 2 are my nicknames of choice), but the problem is when you lie about the nature of your relationship.
