Ok I work in a small auto repair shop a matter of like 12 employees and the two owners who i work with DAILY i know im inviting my two bosses we have close relationships but what about coworkers? in such a small shop is it common courtesy to invite coworkers?

    You should invite the amount of people you can comfortably afford to host. You absolutely don't have to invite your co-workers simply because your bosses are invited.

    well we can comfortably afford to invite them im just not as close with a couple as i am with others dont want it to be a big deal

    If you can afford it, I think it's nice to include everybody.  Let them have the option to attend or not rather than you making that decision by not inviting them.
