Blotting Papers?

Has anyone tried blotting paper for those little shine spots on the face either on your wedding day or otherwise?  Even when I've had my makeup done professionally, I notice it live and in pics a few hours later, just forehead and nose mostly.

I'm wondering if it's a quicker, easier solution than powdering back up during the big day.

Yes, they are awesome for drying up oil!

  • Neutrogena makes little blue ones.

    They are awesome.

The ones without powder are better than the ones with, in my experience.

I find them to be waaaaaay better than applying more powder. The more you apply, the cakier you look. I use blotting papers all the time. Come to think of it, I left them in my wedding clutch from my wedding >2wks ago. Gotta get those out of there tonight!

I just bought some from Mary Kay for my wedding. I've never used them before and my forehead is always oily so I hope this helps me!

  • Coffee filters work even better than blotting papers. We use them for sorority rush in August, in Louisiana...where it's unbelievably hot and humid.

  • I just bought those Neutrogena ones a couple of days ago! I had my make-up trial a couple of weeks ago and by hour 6 post-application, I was getting oily along my chin (and the make-up was almost...separating?). Talked to my make-up artist about that and she's going to change my primer, and recommended the blotting papers. Since hour 6 is pretty much ceremony time on the big day, I definitely want to stem the oily tide early on. :P Oddly, I don't feel like my face is excessively oily under normal circumstances, but I guess that has more to do with the make-up I usually wear? At any rate, the primer question is probably also worth addressing with your make-up artist.

  • Coffee filters! I've never heard of that, thanks for the tip. I've used toilet paper before in emergency circumstances :) I'm still trying things out for my wedding but I've been liking Boscia green tea blotting linens a lot.
