Weight Issues

Last year I lost a lot of weight. I felt great, looked great, all was peachy. Since Thanksgiving, the pounds have been slowing creeping back on. (Ironically...that's when FI moved in.) I would love to loose them again! I know the basics, portion control, journal my food, exercise but I'm lacking in the accountability area. I need something that's cheap (free is best!) to help keep me on track, or even a inexpensive program. I've been on Weight Watchers before so I know that, trouble is they changed their program and I got rid of all of my old materials. I also have FI and 2 kids at home so I can't go on something like Seattle Sutton where meals are planned for me.

Help!! Any suggestions?

I'm on myfitnesspal.com  It really helps me think about what I'm eating when you have the calories staring at you.

It may not be free (can't remember) but SparkPeople is amazing. Google Spark online and you'll get it. It's an awesome program that puts you in 'challenges' and gives you great tips!!! The book is amazing too!!!!

I agree with My Fitness Pal! It's free and there's an app. I don't always track everything but at first it really helped me see that I was eating too much! Now I try to stay around my calorie goal. If I go a tiny bit over, that's ok. I haven't lost a ton of weight yet or anything but it's slowly coming off. I just need to cut back on certain things and exercise more.

My best suggestions for starting out is drinking as much water as possible, and as little pop as possible (even diet). Also look into Eat This Not That (you can buy the books or they have most of it on the Men's Health magazine website). It helped me switch what I eat and drink for better versions. It's not a huge difference but it adds up over time! Good luck!

I use myfitnessPal as well!  It helps me so much with staying on track, accountability, and allowing myself the right amount of extra calories on the days I exercise.  And it's free!

If you need a 'friend' on MFP for extra accountability, my screen name is the same on there.

FI and I have done russian kettlebell and other group fitness programs through our city's park and rec quite a bit over the last year- super cheap compared to a gym (we pay around $60 for 11 weeks), but the same types of classes. And you get the accountability of a weekly class, which I know always helps me.
