If my MOH and one of my bridesmaids are hosting both my shower and bachelorette, should I get them separate gifts for each party? Would it be ok to give one bigger thank you gift (like a massage for one and hockey tickets for the other), or should I do one gift for the shower and one gift for the bachelorette (like an edible arrangement for the shower and nice bottle of wine for the bachelorette)? The shower and bachelorette are about two weeks from each other, so they're not on the same day. If it is ok to give just one bigger gift would I give it after the first party or is it ok to wait the two weeks until after the second?
Re: Hostess Gifts
Are you sure a nice handwritten thank you note won't suffice?
A shower or bachelorette is given as a gift to the bride, so you buy them a gift as a thank you for the gift?
I think one larger gift for both is totally fine. Waiting to give it is okay, but I also wouldn't think it was weird if you gave it after one before the other and said it was for both.
I would not say their BM gift counts as their hostess gift. BMs are by no means required to host any parties so lumping it in makes it seem like it was part of their 'duty'.
ETA - also those sound like awesome hostess gifts!
If the parties aren't that close to each other (i.e. on the same weekend or so), I would follow up the first party with a nice handwritten note and the second with the gift.
I also think those sound like wonderful hostess gifts-which you can give after either party.
[QUOTE]Hostess gifts are given as thanks for hosting a party-even one that is in turn a gift back to you. So no, a mere note won't suffice, and I agree that a hostess gift in this instance does not and should not equal a "bridesmaid's gift" because there is no requirement that bridesmaids host anything for the bride. I also think those sound like wonderful hostess gifts-which you can give after either party.

Wow, I had no idea. Is this a regional thing? I have never, ever gotten anything more than a lovely thank you note for hosting a party. I think I'd feel awkward getting a present for hosting a party!
Is there a dollar amount that is generally suggested?
It must be a regional thing because here, it seems like a huge slight if you don't ge your hostess a thank you gift. Usually it's something edible like cookies or cutesy, like candles or bath stuff. Nothing major.

I think, like other gifts, it's usually up to your discretion and your budget. I kept mine under $50 each - I did a chocolate/coffee gift basket for one and a chocolate/spa-like gift basket for the other. I've seen the collection of Bath and Bodyworks stuff with a "hope you enjoy your shower as much as I enjoyed mine!" many times and it's super cute if you've never seen it before. That could easily be pared down to $20 depending on what you put in it / if you shop the sales.

No, but it's usually not very much. The gift might be a gift card to a restaurant, a little gadget, flowers, or something pretty inexpensive. It's not supposed to be a big thing-but it is given to someone who hosts a party for you.
