No Inner Envelope, but allowing Plus One

We found these really great invitations, but they don't come with an inner envelope.  I'm actually really happy with this because I didn't really want them.  But now I'm having a hard time with how we make it known to some guests that they can bring a plus one.  There aren't many so it's not too much of a headache, but there are some family friends who we would like to give them an option to bring a guest.  I know that you're not supposed to put "& Guest" on the outer envelope, but where would it go?

Re: No Inner Envelope, but allowing Plus One

  • I just hopped on this board to ask the very same question! I also got my RSVP cards printed and I should've had something written on them such as "We reserved _ seats in your name."
Now all I can think is to also put the "& Guest" on the outer envelope as well. My family is laid back (if yours is too then I would just do it) and probably wouldn't care regardless where it goes. The only thing I have a concern over is that people would miss it since it's on the outer envelope.

  • I put & Guest on the outer envelope.
  • I had no Inner envelope and I put and Guest on the outer envelope.
  • I don't have an inner envelope either. I am using pocket tri-folds and I used a silver pen to write the first names of the guests on the back of the tri fold (which is facing the side of the envelop they would open.

Putting "& Guest" with the address would work fine.

  • Thanks everyone.  I'll probably go with and guest on the front, but the note may be good too.
  • If I knew the date I put their name, if not I put and guest
  • Yeah, I agree with the PPs. I tried my hardest to find out their guest's name ahead of time. If even they didn't know, then I just put "and Guest" on the outer envelope since my inner "envelope" was made of lace with no place to write.

  • I would put "and guest" on the outer envelope. I think that is perfectly fine.

I am adressing my invitations as:
Beth Smart and Family (kids are included) or Beth Smart and Guest
