Monogram Help

Hi -

Please tell me which monogram you like better. I like them both, and they both look great against my invitations.  I originaly didn't think that I wanted a G in my monogram because I think they are strange looking, but then I saw it and now I can't make a decision.

So if you look at my invitation, my FI's name is there so you see the G again. I feel like as long as you see the last name on the invitation, then they'll know it's a G in the monogram. But I totally see what you're saying. I felt the same way. I just feel like the cursive G makes it a bit more formal, which is my struggle. UGGG,

I like A&M better.... I thought I always read that the monogram with the initial of your last name should not be used on your wedding invitation because you are not married yet.  I think it can be used on all other wedding stationary because after the ceremony you are married.

<div>I like the first one better.  We used our monogram on our invite, I don't think it's that big of a deal.</div>

I like the first one better also, but I get that you like the formality of the G.  My fiance and I both have first names begining with J and I'm having a struggle with that.  should it be J&J or JDJ.  Oh decisions.  Does your fiance have a preference?...or care haha?

I like the A&M one. I love a good ampersand.

Fiance has no preference - and no, doesn't really care about the invitations so long as I don't spend our entire wedding budget on them!

I like the first - and I agree that you shouldn't use your "married" monogram until you're married.

I didn't know about that. Wow. I thought that if that were the case, the woman doing my invites would have specified. Hmmmmm...

I had never heard of that 'rule' before being on TK either. I'm using it & don't particularly care. Regarding the G or &, to my eyes, they both looked like a &, just in different fonts. I didn't see the second was a G until I read your explanation. Maybe a different font would help? (I do think the color contrast is perfect, though. Sometimes some ladies don't contrast enough & it's too busy)

Hmm, that's a tough one.  I think I like the A&M slightly better, but it's pretty close.

i seriously was thinking the top one had a "unique G" in it.

I like the first one (now that i know its an ampersand) and agree with pp's. Its not your official last name until your married so i wouldnt use it for the wedding. i also understand about the "G". FI's last name is a G as well and it is so hard to find a good one.

I like the G one.  We had the same issue regarding using our monogram on our wedding invitations.  We did... because the E (in the middle) looked like an ampersand.  So we separated the initials a bit on the invitation so it looked like a G+M and then for our monogram, brought them closer together to look like GEM.

Long story short - both are pretty; I like G better.

Would it be asking too much if I asked you to send me a pic of your invite?

I appreciate and understand everyone's point of view regarding this situation.

I like both, but I am partial to the G in the middle. Here's why. I feel like even though it's not official until I'm married, the invitation is inviting everyone to experience that union. I feel like the monogram represents the fusion of our lives in marriage. I do like the A&M, but maybe I'm partial to the G because after the mass, those will be my new initials.
