So we haven't really told anyone other than my mom and my sister (MOH), but my fiance and I have planned a few reception decor things to center around a "Fishing Theme." I know some might say, Fishing theme wedding that's tacky, but that's just who we are! We are outdoorsy people and love going hiking, camping, fishing, geocatching, on picnics, float trips, etc. In fact he asked my dad's permission to marry me while the two of them were fishing. And then proposed to me while we were camping next to a bonfire under the beautiful stars. Everyone who knows us, knows we love the outdoors. My dad is an avid fisherman as well, so i wanted to keep a few things a surprise- even to him. Although our colors are Saphire Blue, Silver and White and i want there to be some elegance to our wedding, we have a few extra surprises up our sleeves.
1. We got a cute Fishing cake topper off Etsy where the Coleman Lantern actually lights up. I've seen some fishing toppers that looked tacky, but i thought this one was really cute.

2. We created a Photo Guest book and most of our engagement photos were outside in a park with a lake as the back drop.
3. We created a sign for our Guest Book table that will stand up on an Easel and has real fishing netting on it, Bobbers, lures and pictures of us scattered across the board. I spray painted letters in Blue our main wedding color that reads "Great Catch" across the top.
4. The pens to sign our guest book are in an old vintage looking tackle box.
5. We are going to put small glass bowls at the bar (that look like fish bowls) and fill them with "Gold Fish" crackers.
I know this may sound "hoosier/ tacky/ country" to some people. But i think our family and friends will get a huge kick out of it and I'm actually mpressed with how everything is turning out and going together. I'm super excited for the big day. 25 days left!
Does anyone else have any "themes" or wedding ceremony secrets?
