Benefits of Makeup Artist?

Hi! I am trying to decide if I will do my own makeup or not for my wedding. I am happy with how my regular makeup looks and have even helped some friends out with their makeup for their own wedding day. However, I recognize a professional may have some expertise I don't. Can anyone suggest what the benefits to a makeup artist would be? Thanks!

    I used one for my wedding day, but I am not someone who likes to do my own makeup or who is very good at it. I liked that it felt like pampering before a special event. I woudl recommend it.

    I felt the same as the PP--there was no way I could have achieved the look I wanted for my wedding by myself.  I also wanted to be pampered and not have to stress out about it.  However, lots of girls are more comfortable doing their own and/or don't have the budget for a professional.  It's really a matter of what works best for your situation.

    I'm gonna have someone do mine. I just done have the time otherwise I would do my own. Getting pampered would be nice that day too!

    I'm getting someone to do mine because I want airbrush and I don't have one yet.  Also, (without trying to sound like a bridezilla) it's my day and I want to feel pampered and beautiful.  Plus I'll be so nervous/anxious I probably wouldn't have a steady hand

    It all depends on your skill.  I had 5 makeup trials and found myself disappointed.  These were pros that were rec. on the local boards.  In the end, I did it myself.  Funny enough, the time it took for me to do it away from everyone else was the time I need to gather my personal thoughts for the day.

    If you do it yourself, invest in an HD or photo finish foundation and good primers.

    I am a makeup artist, and had a makeup artist do my makeup for me. I just wanted to relax that day, and I am very happy I went that route.
