Ceremony Readings. . .

As many weddings I have been in and went to, I can't really say I remember ceremony readings. Now that I am planning my own, I am suppose to have some? What exactly are they suppose to be? Who reads them? and are they necessary?

I feel like a complete idiot!

    We won't be having any. We will include the unity candle ceremony - but otherwise not even special music.

    We were going to do this but since the wedding is outside, we wanted to make sure it would stay lite. We are doing a Sandy ceremony... bought the same thing correct?

    Same general concept of visualizing the combining of two individuals :) FI requested it, I thought that was kewl, so I was happy to oblige after clearing candles with our venue. Neither of us did this in our first marriages, and it fits us. I say that - when he joined me to choose candles, he saw the sand! LOL Candles are more my speed tho - we stuck with that. Will you use colors of samnd to match your wedding colors?

    Every wedding that I've stood up in or been to has done them, but I don't think you HAVE to have them. We're doing a reading at our church ceremony. A good friend of ours will read the Corithians - Love is patient, Love is kind (don't remember the verse number) I love that saying so for me it was never a question whether to do a reading or not!!

    Readings aren't necessary, but they are a nice way to onclude some senitments which you may not cover in your vows, to add a more somber or more humourous tone, or to include someone special in the wedding who isn't in the WP.

    One of my cousins and my FI's brother are doing readings for us.  We are including Taylor Mali's "Falling in Love is Like Owning a Dog" and "Blessings for a Marriage" by James Dillet Freeman.  They will go between the opening prayer and the introduction to the vows.

    Awee! Lol. Yes they do. We added white in, for our moms to add to it. We wanted then to still be a part of it some how.
