Ideas for our theme?

My fiance and I are planning our wedding for May 2013. We want it to be clear that our theme is Beauty and the Beast without it being too over-the-top. This ist he perfect theme for us, we think, because when we talk about his past, he always talks about how I tamed him, like Belle tamed the Beast. Nothing is set in stone yet, of course, but we've tossed around a few ideas. We want to incorproate the most important aspects of the movie into the ceremony and reception in creative ways. To begin with, for centerpieces, we're thinking candelabras (During Belle and the Beast's first romantic dinner, their centerpiece was a simple candelabra.) or a single red rose in a glass dome over a round mirror; perhaps we will use both ideas - one on the head table and the other on the guests' tables. If we can afford it, we'd like to rent a chandelier to hang over the dance floor. The reception site we're looking at is a castle set on a golf course a few miles from the church. It's got a grand ball room with a balcony, similar to the one in the movie. Our colors are still up in the air - imagine that! Before we decided on the Beauty and the Beast theme, we were planning to go with lilac and silver. I still like those colors, but because of the importance of the red rose, we have to include red in some way. At first I wasn't too sure about combining purple and red, but red and lilac roses look wonderful together, accented by some white flowers, perhaps lilies, for my bouquet. As far as bridesmaids' dresses and favors, we've got very few ideas to work with as of now. Any ideas? Smile

  • I bet that castle setting will be beautiful! We aren't doing a theme at this point but the bridesmaids dresses are definitely an obstacle. Not just the style but the colors too. Though you could do lavendar colored dresses and have red and white flowers in their bouquets with maybe one darker purple flower in the center of their bouquets.

We are looking at the Hidden Valley Resort and I'm pretty set on yellow. I'm not sure I'm adding a second color as of yet but we'll see! There's plenty of time! Smile

Agreed. This dress is beautiful. I looked at it for a while, but my heart settled on another Alfred Angelo dress.

  • Hi! I am also planning a Beauty and the Beast themed wedding.  We are getting married in June 2013. My bridesmaids are wearing royal blue and my maid of honor is wearing yellow like Belle's dress.  The men are wearing black tux with yellow ties and vests and my fiance is wearing a tux with a blue tie and vest.  My bridesmaids are carring yellow roses with baby breath in them and I am carrying red roses since they are so important to the movie.  Our talbe cloths are going to be royal blue with yellow table runners.  For centerpieces we are doing "floating roses."  We are buying cylinder vases for them.  You add the red roses, then add gems to the bottom (we are doing clear)  to hold the rose in place, then you add water and it looks like the rose is floating, on the top we are putting a floating candle.  To the side of those we are having smaller vases with a jar candle in the middle and blue aqua beads/gems around it--you can't see the candle exept for the top but it looks super neat on the aqua beads!  Our first dance is going to be tale as old as time and when it is time for food we are playing be out guest!!  On the cake table we are having a tea set like Mrs. Potts and chip and on the gift table we are having a clock or vise versa.  For the escort cards we are having a big vintage mirror and I am going to write the table names and whos at it underneath.  We are naming our tables things like this:

    Tale as old as time

    Happily Ever After

    The Rose

    Enchanted Castle

    Dreams Do Come True

    A Fairy Tale

    Royal Guests

    Once Upon A Time

    The Royal Ball

    The Royal Court

    Be Our Guest

For our seating cards/place cards I created "folded buisness cards" on vistaprint.  I added a picture of beauty and the beast and red roses in the corner.  In addition, I added a blue line where I can write their names on them.  These are going to go on their plates so they know where I would like them to sit at the wedding, this way I can guarantee couples can sit together.

For our wedding invites I started it out by saying "Once upon a time a girl fell in love with a boy just like a page out of a story book.. "  I also put on their we wish you to be our guest.

I hope this helps--let me know if you have any questions and I would be happy to help
