Eloping from Ohio and need HELP!

Hello!

I am planning to elope in March and marry on March 6th. Neither my fiance nor I have ever been to NOLA and are going a little crazy trying to plan everything from so far away. We want an outdoor venue and a simple, sweet ceremony. There will only be 5 or 6 other people with us (our parents woulnd't let us get away with a total elopement lol) so we don't need a huge venue, maybe something like a park?

If anyone could help me by recommending any of the following:
-ceremony location (if outside do I need to contact a park services?)
-officiant (not looking for religious ceremony)
-florist (we will only need a bouquet and boutonniere, but want custom colors)
-restaurant for after ceremony dinner
Or anything else you would like to recommend!

Thanks in advance for your help! I feel like a lost puppy and could use some advice from locals :)

  • If you don't mind an audience, I think it would be pretty cool to get married in Pirates Alley.

  • If you want a park go to City Park but if you want the New Orleans/French Quarter feel try Jackson Square
  • I'm not local. I've been doing internet searches and got a few travel books at the library.  Of course this board is amazingly helpful too!

The Magnolia Mansion has elopement packages, and is just down the street from Commander's Palace, a classic New Orleans restaurant. You could also check out different BBs, a lot of them are just gorgeous.
  • Thanks for the posts!

I have been looking at City Park, Audubon Park, and Jackson Square. I keep reading online about having to get a permit for photography or a wedding in these locations. Does anyone know anything about this?

I am also searching for an officiant but it is difficult to find someone that I might like without meeting anyone in person. Can anyone recommend anyone?

    Thanks again!
  • We are using John Zimmer. He receives amazing reviews, but...he is only available by phone, and doesn't do contract...I was super nervous about this, but all the brides on here and even our venue recommended him.
