Let's talk ceremonies--

Hey Girls! I've heard a lot about your weddings so far. It seems not many people are doing traditional church services....So what are your plans for your ceremony?

Mine is completely unconventional. Guests will be seated at their assigned reception tables, which we will arrange with an aisle through the middle to walk down. I have one of my good friends who is going to officiate the wedding. We're doing 2 readings and writing our own vows. The ceremony should take all of 20 minutes. Then we'll leave the building to take pictures and come back as the Mr & Mrs for the reception.

How do you girls plan to do yours?

We did not have a church ceremony either, but it was kind of religious just because of our families. We did it on a deck outside our reception venue overlooking the water. Our officiant (my cousin's wife) used a ceremony with Celtic influences and we had a sand ceremony instead of a unity candle. Our sand ceremony bottles are all on our mantle at home and it looks beautiful. We did not have any readings and I think the whole thing, with processional and recessional, lasted 15 minutes. It was perfect.

Since ours is at a country club, it will be outside (covered).  We will also be doing a sand ceremony, and would like the officiat (grandfather) to read a blessing and then poof! we are done.  I hope it doesn't last long.  I don't like being the center of attention.

Not into having a church ceremony and there were very few other options!!  So we decided to do the ceremony in the Renaissance Court at the Botanical Gardens in Norfolk.  It will be short like others have said- probably 20 minutes max.  Will be a 25 minute ride to the reception but I guess that's what limos are for ;)

I'm so excited about our officiant.  Our wedding planner set up a meeting with him (he's a pastor at a local church) and we LOVE him.  I'm so excited to get to know him more and have him be a part of our day :)

Sounds great girls...Just as I thought. Traditional  weddings are a dying breed. That makes me feel a little better about our one-room shindig! HAHA

Do you guys ever watch the show Four Weddings? I've recently become acquainted. Love it!

That sounds very unique! Though that is becoming more and more popular!

We are having our ceremony at a Gazebo and then will head to our beach front reception.

I want a religious ceremony, but I really would prefer not to have a church wedding. I'm attempting to find an outdoor area that is inexpensive and not very far away. It looks like I'm either going to have to look in a larger area, or may be stuck with the church wedding to keep it here though.

We're having the ceremony at my family's Baptist church, doing a Covenant Ceremony. (Wording is in my bio under Ceremony).  We're doing a Cord of Three Strands, "These Hands" as the reading, a "mini-sermon," and we are signing the Covenant along with our attendants and pastors during the ceremony.  Songs will be sung during the Cord and the signing of the Covenant.  Ours will be about 45 minutes from the moms & grandmothers walking in to the recessional, which is a little longer than what a good deal of our families are used to, but we really wanted the focus to be on the ceremony more than anything else.
