New Here!

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to introduce myself! I've been engaged nearly six months (gah- time flies!), but due to moving and school and everything else, wedding planning has been put on the back burner until just recently. We just looked at our first venue option, which is a big deal since neither of us currently live in MI.

We are looking to have a NYE 2013 wedding, which seems so far into the future! But it doesn't look like we will be able to live together anytime soon--I still have two years left of grad school and his job is in a different state--so we figure that we might as well take our time! Any advice on planning from afar (or anything else!) would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance for all of the help!

  • Welcome!

My FI and I are also planning from a  distance.  Once you have the venue it does get easier for the most part. Let us know if there is anything we can help with. And congrats!

  • Congratulations and welcome!  My FI and are I are also planning from afar (2400 miles).  I agree with acaponi, once you get the venue the rest is easy.  We has my sister and FILs look at the venues.  We booked it without actually seeing it though.  All of our vendors we booked through conversations, e-mails and looking through their stuff online.  If I felt comfortable with someone over the phone and they communicated well then I booked them.  I looked at reviews too.  Have a coordinator has helped greatly planning from a distance, although, we will have an 18 month engagement so I have been able to take my time and not use him as much as I'm sure other brides do.  Time will go quickly.  I have grad school to and it is getting harder and harder to focus on school when there is wedding planning to do!  Once you start planning you will probably feel the same way.  In this I would highly recommend taking fewer credits in the semester you will be getting married. Anyway, the ladies here are great, happy planning!

  • Welcome and congrats! Once you start planning, time sure does fly. I started at a year and 10 months and my ticker is almost under 1 year and 3 months, I cant even believe it.
