Beach themed wedding favors

Hey all! I'm looking for ideas of beach themed wedding favors for our guests. We're already doing the starfish attached with escort cards for guest to take back to their table but I wanted something more for them to bring home. What would be a good idea that won't break the bank. I've looked through Etsy and some of the prices I'm not very excited about. I am open to DIY ideas as well. Thanks!

  • My mom bought flip-flop luggage tags to give out as favours at my sister's shower. They were very cute!

  • That is a wonderful idea. I had not thought of that as an easy solution. It sounds affordable too.

[QUOTE]Go for something edible.  Not everyone wants a trinket, and you're likely to have lots of leftovers. What about candy shaped like starfish or seashells?

<div>THIS! Edible favors are always a better option. A favor is meant to be an extra treat, not a "themed" trinket. With or without your wedding info on it, things like that are almost always left behind. </div><div>
</div><div>My aunt had a beach wedding, her favors were seashell and starfish shaped Godiva truffles in little gold boxes with ribbon. They looked beautiful and elegant at each place setting. They didn't break the bank. And everyone gobbled them up! </div>

  • I agree edible is best.  But, that being said, we got married on the beach and I didn't go the edible route.  I did a yankee candle (small one) in little metal pails (like a kid's beach pail but mini).  I didn't have too many left over afterwards.

[QUOTE]From a guest.....I'd rather not get a "favor."  The reception is the thank-you to the guest.  Why not use the favor money to upgrade the food and drinks at the reception?  I for one would appreciate that a lot more.

  • If you decide to go with an edible favor, maybe you could look into salt water taffy.
  • You could make chocolates in the shape of starfish, fish, etc.  You can easily buy a mold and the chocolate yourself - the chocolate even comes in a variety of colors.  Package that up in a clear bag with a cute ribbon and then guests will have something they can take that is also edible.

  • Edible all the way. Trinkets and trotchkes are just clutter for most people.

  • I actually would prefer not to get a favor actually as a previous posted stated. They are kind of a waste and no one really cares or misses them and the money can be used for better things... but if you are going with a favour, I would actually NOT go with edicble, but that's me... b/c I do not eat sweets and most of my friends and family are healthnuts so we would have a lot of uneaten favours. I thought the flipflop luggage tag was something everyone could use. To each her own though, it was just a suggestion.. but I often find that a lot of the edible favors don't get eaten and left behind.

  • The luggage tag is not a bad idea. I wouldn't leave that behind and would use it.

  • I've been to a few weddings where a small sign is posted at the table, or a card was placed at each seating, that informed guests that the money normally spent on wedding favors was instead donated to a charity or worthy cause. Maybe you could do this with a 'save the whales' donation or a 'clean waters' charity'?

Been to those weddings, also, and I always think, why are you telling me that you are donating to a charity. If they want to donate, then donate, but don't tell me how you spend your money.

Candy, matches, etc. anything small and consumable is more than enough. If you skipped favors, nobody would care.
  • Wow, thanks for the input all! I have a bit to think about and yes I have thought about completely nixing them all together. I have enough to spend money on with this wedding!
