Addressing the Invitations Question

We are sending an invitation to an entire family but how do I express on the address on the envelope that the 2 "children" in the family (they are young adluts) can bring guests?

Do I say: Mr. John Doe and Family and Guests
               123 seasme street

Re: Addressing the Invitations Question

  • The way you have it addressed leaves it pretty open to interpretation. You don't want them showing up with their neighbors or something. First off, if the kids are 18 or older, they should get their own invitations. If they are not, but you would still like to extend them a guest, I would do it like this. Mr. and Mrs. John Smith Ms. Emily Smith and guest Ms. Laura Smith and guest My phone messes up the formatting, but each would be on its own line. Or, you could just put the parents and kids names on the envelope, and write a short note on the RSVP that the kids can bring a guest.
  • Libby2483 is correct, because if they are going to bring a significant other they should be old enough to get their own invitation.
