Travelocity/Expedia

Anyone ever use either of these sites? I've only ever traveled through a travel agent, but I am finding that an all-inclusive trip to Ocho Rios at the resort that we want is much cheaper through both of these sites.

Thanks!

Re: Travelocity/Expedia

  • We booked our entire HM through Travelocity, even a few of the excursions.  The only problem we had was they told us right when we booked that the rental car wasn't available so we just got it through Hotwire instead.

  • I have used Expedia for flights but not all-inclusive vacation packages.  I had no problems with them and the one time I called for customer service they were able to resolve my issue (the itinerary they sent me had one flight departure time, the airline's website had a different time).

I have used Travelocity for hotel bookings and again, smooth sailing with no issues.  I wasn't able to use my frequent hotel points card at the hotel though, since it was a "discounted room" price.
  • I've used expedia for hotel visits, but have no experience using them for anything else. I had no problems with them whatsoever and am also thinking about booking our HM through them because as you said, their prices are pretty dang low.

  • Get the best of both worlds, print up the package with the pricing information and take it to a travel agent. Most agencies will price match that way you get the good price and an actual person to help you with everything. I always feel more comfortable knowing someone is double checking my trip to make sure everything is in order.

  • I use Expedia and Travelocity all the time.  I've never had an issue with either one!  I'm not a big fan of Orbitz though.

  • Missy- I've thought of that! I think I just might do that. I think I would be a nervous wreck until we were at our hotel. Thank you!

We showed our Travelocity deal to our TA and she was unable to match it.  My DH called the hotel and confirmed everything also.  We had zero problems.
  • I try not to name names too often, but I know that Liberty Travel price matches Everything has to be "apples to apples" for them to match but it's hardly ever a problem to get exactly the same package as is offered through websites.

I've never had a problem with travelocity or hotels.com but for a honeymoon trip I would definitely feel more comfortable having a person I can meet with be responsible for my vacation, especially for an all-inclusive.

Ros, definitely don't hesitate to ask your TA about it. These type of requests are very common now and I'm sure she/he will appreciate you going to them and will be happy to get you the best price. Smile
