Credit Card Vent

So I was going online to check my transaction history and to pay off the honeymoon that was put on my card. I found a fraudulant charge. It was 33.00, but I never authorized this. So after 10 minutes on the phone with the credit card company, I was able to report the charge, cancel the card, have a new one sent to me, and hopefully it is all taken care of.

Just a reminder to everyone, review your statements carefully.

  • That sucks, but glad you got it cleared up.

I ALWAYS check my statements. Very good advice to share.

  • FI thinks I am crazy with how crazy I am about checking our statement.  Good for you for finding $33!!  I think I would only pick up on the bigger ones!

  • Another reason I hate credit cards. Glad you got everything cleared up!

  • That sucks!  At least it was only $33 and they were able to take care of it.

I check my accounts at least once a week to always be sure.

  • I try to check them once a week also. But I figured as we all are paying for our weddings and honeymoon that we should be looking more closely at them.

Glad to see that a lot of you girls do check them.

  • A lot of the time people will add small amounts like that and then hit you with a bunch of bigger ones (happened to my sister unfortunately, she didn't catch it until it was 3k later).

I'm adamant about checking all accounts consistently and I have a credit monitoring company in tact as well. I once used my debit card to get gas, and then we traveled to Mt. Hood (45 min to an hour away) and I tried to use my card there - it declined it. Kind of annoying, but they said because of the short time in between they thought it was fraudulent. Kind of thankful, just in case.

I have one too for all my cards and it has saved me.  Someone once got my number (probably a waitress at a restaurant) and tried it at 4 stores.  Had I not had the monitoring company watching my card and freezing it at the time, I would have been out about $4k.
