  We are doing cupcakes, but had problems with this too. Cake Arts was the only place I could find one. I ended up buying a stand, which I know you don't want to do, but is cheaper:

  Do you need a cake stand?  My cake was just on a wooden board.  The baker put like a doily fabric over it, and it was fine.  Pic if you want to see
