XP: "I dont want I registry, I want money"/ Whats on YOUR registry

So, after the responses from that post, I decided to just do a small registry that I will only mention if asked.  However, most of the items that I even like are big $$ items.  Further, the things that would be smaller items... bath towels ect.  I have no idea what colors to ask for because we are house shopping... have no clue what color my bathroom will be.....

What are some of the smaller <$100 items you guys selected?

  • lots of kitchen supplies are under $100 but not sure you would need it. Baking pans, cookie sheet, cooking utensils, kitchen towels, kitchen mats, rolling pin (all things you probably already have, I am still using all my stuff from college/grad school, so I am excited to upgrade). What about glassware? Great time to get glasses that you probably wouldn't buy on your own i.e. martini glasses etc.

  • A few of my small items were placemats and napkins, napkin rings, a cookbook, beach chairs, a garmet steamer, a Magic Bullet blender and some supplies for the Keurig, which FMIL got us as a shower gift.

  • Hello There
Despite those that say that it is rude to ask for money - I beg to differ.  I am getting married at the end of this year and I have my own place just as he does.  It would be too much for us to receive items for our place if we already have them.  I have friends and sisters who were in the same situation that recently got married.  They did not register therefore palced some statement about their love and how they have lived on there own for many years accumulating lots of items etc.  It worked out for them and in fact they received tons of compliments for mentioning it because most of the guests thought it be easier to provide money.  I will add that you do have those that refuse to give just money but rather some wedding gift such as a vase, towels etc but that's okay.  For the most part my sister/friends did not end up with gifts that they really didn't want or have the burden of possibly having to take their gifts back.  Good Luck...

YESSSS us too! I'm so excited to register for everything!

Even if you don't know exactly what color your bathroom or bedroom scheme will be you can never have too many towels and sheets especially for guests and spare rooms. Even if just basic colors.

  • We registered for george foreman grill utensils, nice towels, cooking stuff such as bowls, matching stainless steel blender, toaster and toaster oven since when we get a home I want it all to match. Sheet sets. Depending on where you register they will have sales so a 69.99 item may go down to 49 on sale. We also registered for pillows and bedding.

  • PS you should also register for luggage if you travel....

And don't count other people's pockets.

You would be surprised at people's generosity when it comes to weddings. There are items on my registry I NEVER though people would buy and the they were bought....and they were bought by ppl who I thought where in the 30-50 dollar gift range.

This and pots and pans, sheets/ comforter sets, kitchen gadgets like peelers, graters, etc.  We're under contract for a house but I already know my color schemes for all of the rooms so it made registering pretty easy.  We also registered at Sears for FI for tools and yard supplies (edgers, hedgers, water hoses, rakes, BBQ grilling utensils, etc.)

  • Color thoughts, maybe stainless steel for kitchen items. Browns are in for bathrooms and can be matched with another color.

    Very....VERY true.
  • You could do a wishing well if you don't want to do a registry.  Google it if you haven't heard of it.  There are little poems you can type up.  People have their own opinion and you can have yours.
