How far in advance are you suppose to shop for bridesmaids dresses? I know they say for wedding dress like 8-6 months. do bm dresses take about as long to come in as wedding dresses? TIA

I've been in six weddings and it has never taken longer than 2-3 months to get my dress.  Most came within1.5-2, with two coming in right at a month.

Unless you're wanting some crazy exclusive designer, you're probably safe to start about 6 months out.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

I'd go at least 4-6 months in advance. I took 2 of my girls shopping yesterday for their dresses and there were so many they couldn't get in time, and this was at David's Bridal.

David's Bridal told me it would take 3 months to get a dress I ordered.  I had it in 3 weeks.  I'm not saying this happens every time, but I do think most places embellish on the time it takes, because they want you to buy NOW!
