Wedding Vows & Ceremony Discussions

What time will your ceremony start?

I haven't set my ceremony time yet, but I think it will be 3:00.  My mom was telling me about some tradition of having a wedding begin on the upswing of the clock.  I'd never heard of it before nad don't think it'll happen in my wedding. Just wondering when others' weddings will begin!

  • My wedding will start at 3pm and fgollowed by the reception from 5-9pm. I know that I will need a afternoon wedding because I will be running around the day before tying up loose ends so I would like to sleep in a little late.

  • Mine is starting at 4:30pm. My hair and makeup apt is at 11:30am but I'm not doing pictures beforehand.
  • 5:30pm. I loved having an evening ceremony!
  • Only time my church can do weddings is at 1:00, then our reception begins with cocktails at 4:30 and goes on until whenever, probably around 1am for some guests.

I'm not a morning person at all, so I'm dreading having to wake up so early to start hair and makeup; though I have a feeling the adrenaline/excitement will kick in and I won't even feel tired :)
  • Our ceremony was at 2pm with dinner starting around 4.  The only other options at our venue were 10am (way too early) and 6pm (didn't want to be up late since we had to be up at 5am to catch a flight the following morning).

  • Ceremony will be at 5, short and sweet, and the reception will start right after - like 5:15 or 5:30. It's all in our backyard. I'm running a half marathon in the morning (it's really not as crazy as it sounds) so we decided later afternoon was the way to go.

  • We're probably gonna go with a ceremony at 4 and then the reception soon after (the reception is across the street from the church!) Hoping to have everyone- including us- well on their way home by 10- it's on a Wednesday, after all.

<div>Do you have a plan for the gap?  That's an awful long time between ceremony and cocktails.</div><div>
</div><div>To answer OP, my ceremony is at 1, reception 2:30 to 5:30.</div>
  • Our wedding starts at 430 with the cocktail hour starting at 530 or 545 we haven't really decided on that yet.
