Primal Diet anyone???

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone had tried and had success with the primal/paleo diet and lifestyle? A friend of mine had tried it some months ago and lost weight and felt great energy on it.  I have decided to give it a try for both health reasons and for wanting to lose a few more lbs.  I just started this week so can't speak to long-term results yet.  For those of you who don't know, it is based on the premise that our bodies have not evolved to eat all that additional stuff our ancestors could not eat--this includes grains/starches (wheat, rye, barley--breads, pasta etc), and sugary, processed foods. (For more info, please google the website Mark's Daily Apple).  I have many diabetics in the family so I feel this is worth exploring health wise now while I am still younger.  Has anyone tried it long term with success or lack of success??

  • It is aweome! I don't always stick to it, but I personally know several people that have due to their gluten and other intolerences. I always have more energy and feel amazing when I do eat this way, but I have some junk once in awhile to keep me honest ;)

  • I lost sooooo much weight when I was on it... but it's so hard for me to stay on.  I really want to do it again but it's difficult....

  • Wow, that's really encouraging! Thanks for the input ladies! I don't have a massive amount of weight to lose at this point (10 more lbs would be great though, lost 6 recently)...but I would like to get healthier and in better shape for the wedding and far beyond! I know it is something you must maintain and make a lifestyle so I'm thinking you have to allow yourself a cheat here and there...I read you should aim to follow it like 80% of the time.  It is hard at social functions and there are days you need to get creative, but I like I said I feel it is worth exploring, esp for those of us with diabetics in the family history! I am going to try to continue to make an honest go of it and update throughout! What kind of foods did those of you who followed it eat most of the time?
