DOC - Worth it?

I want to start by saying that I have been a lurker for quite a while and found some really great information (and vendor reccomendations) on these boards.

Now to the point Laughing  I am getting married on 5-12-12 and am considering hiring a DOC.  My ceremony is offsite at a church in Glastonbury.  Do any of you have any experience with DOCs (either through planning, being a bridesmaid or actually using one)?  Are they worth the $$?

Thanks in advance!

Alyson

Re: DOC - Worth it?

  • We are using one and I think it will be worth the money. Our venue has someone who coordinates, but mainly to be sure everything works according to plan on their end. They really won't set up the little details we want or anything like that. And knowing myself and the hard work we are putting in, we think it's worth the money

Similar to PP, I really wanted someone else that knew how we were envisioning the day.  I am a bit of a control freak and it has been a huge relief to have someone to bounce ideas off and also discuss scheduling.  When we met with her she said something that I had not considered before, she looks out for us on our wedding day.  Not that venues aren't trying to please but often times they have their standard wedding reception and the DOC ensures that everything is executed how you planned it.

I didn't want any guests to have to help on the day of the wedding.  The cost is much less than I had anticipated, especially in comparison the overall wedding costs.  There is a post below with recommendations for DOC if you are interested

  • Agree with PP- so far, it's already worth the money to get advice and suggestions from someone who knows what they are doing. Most are actually pretty affordable...for me, I love knowing that I have someone who will be VERY visible on the day of and making sure that things go okay!
  • I just booked one last week for our 8-11-12 wedding and I resisted for a long time because we're on such a tight budget.  But I can tell you I slept better the night i booked her knowing she would be handling all the details the day of and I could relax a bit.

  • Thanks for the responses.  I have gotten info. from CR Socials and Designer Jen so far.  Based on their prices it does seem like it is worth it to have some piece of mind.
  • CR Socials would be my sugguestion. she did my brother's wedding, sister's wedding and grandparents 65th wedding anniversary. she has a really sweet disposition and LISTENS, doesnt over step boundaries and was well worth the money.
