Skincare recommendations?

Does anyone have a skincare person that they would recommend?  I live in Gwinnett County.  I want to see if someone can TELL me what I need - facial, microdermabrasion, etc?  I don't even have a clue of where to start!

I don't know about someone you can see, but I do know that ever since I started using the Mary Kay skin products my face has improved greatly. I don't break out as much and my skin is sooo soft. Obviously the consultants aren't professionals, but they are very knowledgeable.

I highly, highly recommend Cherece Law-taylor at Pure Aesthetics in Dunwoody. Get on her mailing list, she's always running specials. She has helped me tremendously. She sells a line of products called Institut Dermed, which have made a HUGE difference in my skin. They are expensive, and for that reason alone I was extremely hesitant. But she offers a return policy if you're not pleased, so I went ahead and bought one. I now own the cleanser, black licorice serum (life changing!), moisturizer, pumpkin peel and glycolic serum. As you can see I've changed my tune, LOL. She does not pressure you to buy and encourages you to space out your purchases so it's not too much. The products are incredibly concentrated and a tiny amount goes a long way. I have a 4oz bottle of the cleanser and use it nearly every day, and 6 months later I'm not even halfway down the bottle. It helps justify the $58 price tag.

I am the cheapest person ever when it comes to things like that and the most expensive product I've ever bought is a $6 moisturizer. I now see her at least every 6-8 weeks for facials and of course buy the products. The investment is 100% worth it and I do not grudge the money at all.

Call ASAP because it can take a while to get in. Tell her Erika sent you. Good luck!

Thank you Erika!  I just checked out the website and signed up on the email list.  What do you recommend for Services?  Should I just make an appt for a regular facial and have her recommend other services while I'm in there for a facial?

Just tell the receptionist you're a new client and aren't 100% sure what you need. She'll schedule you for enough time for Cherece to figure out what to do. She will do a complete skin analysis when she sees you.

In my initial visit she confirmed that I have adult acne, cystic acne, extreme dry skin, extreme sensitivity, and rosacea. I knew the others but not the rosacea. It explained the redness in my t-zone and chin. I have struggled with my skin for a long time. I've been on two rounds of accutane, countless topical washes, antibiotic creams, pills, you name it. Nothing worked, and almost all of it made my skin even worse. The accutane made me extremely sick, but it did cure about 90% of the painful cystic acne, but I would still get one on my neck every now and then. It's SO painful.

In ONE week of using the black licorice serum the redness was gone. Totally gone. I couldn't believe it. She also recommended I start taking Omega 3 vitamins by Megared, which I have along with a Vitamin A supplement. It has made a big, big difference in my skin. Obviously the facial products helped my face, but the vitamins alone almost completely cleared up my acne on my back. That's how much the vitamins helped. Be careful with the vitamin A though, discontinue it if you're pregnant or planning to become pregnant.

Since my skin is so intensely dry I was exfoliating it with St Ives several times a week, and then slathering a super thick Pond's cream on it, but it was still so dry it was peeling. She banned me from any exfoliation using an abrasive. I now exfoliate twice a week using a pumpkin peel with enzymes in it. A very small amount goes a long way, and my skin is totally smooth and actually looks like I had a mild chemical peel. The moisturizer smells great, and two small pumps (probably about a dime size of lotion) is enough for my whole face and neck, and my skin is not dry or peeling at all anymore. It just goes to show that I'd use gobs of ponds cream and have dry skin, but a dime size of Institut Dermed and my skin is totally moisturized. The quality really counts.

Can you tell how much I love her and the products? LOL. Have fun at your appointment!

Awesome!  I called yesterday and made an appointment for next Saturday.  They suggested that I start with a facial and go from there.  :)  I'm super excited!!  Thanks for your recommendation!

If you want to PM me your email address I'll forward you some emails I have with coupons or deals. I think one of them is a very good price on a series of facials, but you have to order by next Tuesday.

    Erika!
I saw Cherece on Saturday.  I told her you recommended me.  She was like "Erika who?"  I said "Umm, she's probably getting married soon, I "met" her on the Knot.  LOL!

My skin FEELS awesome.  And I have had blackheads in my nose FOREVER and they are gone!

Anyways, I bought some of the same things you did - cleanser, the licorice stuff and a mask I will use once a week.  YIPEE!

That's too funny! I sent her an email, I'm sure she'll remember me. Her business has really picked up lately.

I'm so glad you sprung for the products, you will love them! And doesn't your skin just feel brand new?

The moisturizer is my new favorite product, followed by a tie between the black licorice serum and pumpkin peel.

I am definitely getting the moisturizer next time.  I asked her for a priority list, and she suggested the licorice serum first (with the cleanser and something I use once a week --- obviously I haven't used it yet).
