flower cost

I have no idea how much to budget for flowers. It is probably going to be my splurge item but i do not want to go into debt. We are having about 180 people so maybe 18 centerpieces, my bouquet an the brides maid and ceremony flowers (whatever that is) My mom says we need it all but we are paying for it! what would be average. Im in the boston area

We're having about 25 tables, 6 bridesmaid and 6 groomsmen, flower girls, etc and we're paying around $7500 with Lotus Designs in back bay, who are really great if youre looking for someone!

Wow! $7,500 seems like a lot. I'm paying $3,500 and I also have 25 tables. My florist original estimate was $5,000 but I cut some stuff to get it down. And it's the one big thing my mom is paying for. My wedding is OOT but I think you can find something comparable in Boston if you shop around.

Really, it depends on how important flowers are to you. Some girls pay less than $1,000 and order them from Whole Foods, BJs or Costco or they DIY. If you go the florist route have a budget of what you want to pay and ask them to work within those numbers..

I would talk to more than 1 florist until you find somebody that you trust and that can work with you.

    Good luck!

I spent around 2600 for 15 centerpieces, 6 cocktail table arrangements, ceremony decorations, a huge escort card display, and a few other arrangements, plus mine and wedding party flowers.  It will definitely vary depending on the flowers you want and the season.

I worked with Jen at the Tangled Web in Peabody.  She is great and will stick to your budget.  I spent just about $500 (maybe a bit more with delivery) for three bouquets, two ceremony pieces and 10 boutonnieres.  (I would think for a small centerpiece it would run you about $60-70 each based on her pricing for the ceremony flowers)

You don't need to do flower centerpieces on every table, or even any table.  I used candles and lanterns I got at IKEA for $8.99 each.  Saved a ton of money - flowers look great, but they die.  I have the lanterns as decoration in my home now, so do my MOH and bridesmaid (we divided them up).

I spent just about $1,000.  I had hydrangea and white rose centerpieces.  There were 9 of those at $65/each.  I had 3 bouts, 2 bouquets, 2 mother corsages.  I recommend Barry's Flowers in Braintree.

also a tip is that if you're doing a church wedding, you may not need or want to do anything big in the church. My church advised against it because they said if we don't take our ceremony pieces with us, they will toss them out after so we aren't doing anything in the church. That also helps cut back on flowers.

I ordered through Costco.  My flowers were $81 and we did them ourselves.  We did non-floral centerpieces, so we only had 5 bridesmaids bouquets, my bouquet, 1 toss bouquet, and 2 corsages.

we just booked our florist and i could be happier.  Like you i didn't want to spend a bunch becuase, while flowers are necessary (for some) they die.
We used Floral Arts in westord.  Mike is amazing.  Our wedding is in october and really worked with our budget.  we had a portion of the centerpieces worked into our venue cost, but that was minimal...it all depends on the flowers you want.

I told him i wanted noting particular, just make it look good

    we had 6 brides maids
    6 ushers
    my boquet
    2 moms
    2 grand moms
    2 alter pieces
    and about 16 centerpieces

    for about 2000
If you are in the area he is TOTALLY worth meeting, even my FI liked him
