May 2012 Weddings

Nothing is ever free

We were married on May 5th and it was a beautiful day. An issue has now come up with the photographer. My husband looks after his aunt's apartment building because they moved to Florida. One of the tenants is a professional photographer and she told my husband that if she could use one of the storage rooms to meet with clients on the property that she would do our wedding. When we met, she said that her sevices would be free along with the CD of the pictures along with the copyrights. The pictures came out great! We planned on buying the prints from her since she did so much for us instead of going to Walmart etc. She just sent me a message stating that she charges $500 for wedding CDs! I know she did a lot of work but if she had to rent office space to meet with her clients she would have spent  several thousand for 7 months of rent. I'm not sure what to make of all of this.

Re: Nothing is ever free

  • Do you have any sort of contract with her? If so, check and see if it includes the cd. If not, your h can just tell her that if she doesn't fork over the cd, she can't have her free storage space. Be warned, though, that she may just walk away from the deal and you won't get your pics.

  •  There's no contract. It was a verbal agreement.
  • Have you tried sending her a polite email and reminding her of the terms (and her benefit)?

  •   My husbnd is going to the apartment  house right now.  Hopefully, she's there so they can talk.
  • Hmmm without a contract I don't think there is much you can do...
