Invitation dilemma

hey ladies!

I am hoping some of you can point me in the right direction here!
I am trying to invite some gals and guys from work. The only problem is i don't know their home addresses or if they have a significant other. Is there a proper way to do this? Or should I not bother inviting them at all? Is it ok to leave an invitation on their desk at work?

Thanks again!!!  :)

I'm no big follower of etiquette so I'd be the first to just leave it on their desk. I would also just ask around the office to make sure they're not seeing anyone if you don't want to offend anyone by not inviting with guest.

I work from home so I just had my FI email and ask his co workers for their addresses & spouses name.  We only invited the ones in his immediate dept.

A word of advice on why I would actually mail it - a girl from my previous job got married last weekend.  She passed the invitations out at work.  One guy told me he never actually opened it.  It also became more of big party and she ended up having to invite EVERYONE  in our dept ( about 100 people) because every kept passing their invitations around!  So she invited everyone to the ceremony and then had to go back around and invited some to the ceremony and some to the reception which was ridiculous because my friend didn't bother to open his invitation because he ended up being told he could could, but COULDN'T bring his WIFE of 20 YEARS because she ended up having to invite so many more people!

So - I prefer to keep it private via mail - lol!

i just asked certain people for their addresses...but don't do that when there's a bunch of people around, cause then they'll expect to be asked as well.

    thanks ladies!

it looks like I am gonna be busy for the next few days! I will take the advice and just ask around for addresses and spouse names! I don't need the whole department thinking that they are all invited..  :)
