NWR; WWYD?

I went to the same hair salon that I have been going to for the past two years. I have never had any problem there before.

I picked out my color I pick something different each time and I thought the girl did a good job at the time. However I don't blow dry my hair there. When I got home I noticed there was a lot of dye on my scalp and on my face near the ear.

When I washed my hair this morning a lot of dye washed away. I am now stuck with these horrid streaks where the color washed away. Im so upset because it is a really pretty color in the areas that the color stuck. We had to cancel our engagement photos because I refused to be photographed with my hair looking like this.

I don't want to cause a scene at the hair salon but I really HATE my hair. FI thinks I should demand they fix it.
I bought a box of color oops and some hair color to try and hide this disaster.

I have no idea if I should say something to the manager or just forget it. Either way, I don't plan on visiting them again. :

  • I'd go in there and show them before you dye over it. They need to fix it. The water should run not clear the first time or two you wash after they rinsed it out, but there shouldn't be dye coming out. They either need to fix it or refund your money. Especially since you had to cancel your photos. I'd be pissed!

  • I agree with PP, you need to go back before you do anything else. Explain (as calmly as you can) what happened, that you noticed the dye and then that it didn't run clean, and tell them you either would like them to fix it or refund you for it. For the price people pay to get their hair done, it should be perfect IMO
  • I called them and I was told they could 'add color over it' on Tuesday. I was told that the manager would have to see it and decide if she could issue a refund or not. They are currently too busy to be of any assistance and they are booked solid tomorrow.

<div>You're too nice. By Tuesday, after a few more washes, it'll have already started to even out. I would have went down there, shook my hair in the managers face and sat my ass in the waiting room until they found time to fix it then and there, even if it meant after their closing time. They're pushing you around right now and passing the buck, which is super uncool. </div><div>
</div><div>I'm kind of aggressive, if you haven't picked up on that yet, haha. </div>

  • Its a half hour drive for me to get to the salon and they close at 5. The girl on the phone kept telling me over and over that I should have washed my hair sooner. The lady that does my hair told me to wait 24 hours if possible. I'm just going to drive there in the morning and be there when the open and demand they stip it and color it again.

  • Definetly be there first thing in the morning. And if they tell you that they won't fit you in, I would tell them that I was going to sit there all day in their waiting room and show people what happened. If that doesn't work, I don't know if I would actually wait all day. I would probably make a huge scene as people were coming in and see where it goes from there. Butu you definetly should not wait until Tuesday, make sure the manager at least sees how it came out before you wash it again.

  • Are you SERIOUS?! I have been a hairdresser since 1990 and there is no way on this Good Lord's green earth that I would not have wanted to see that RIGHT AWAY -- even if I had to meet my client after hours!! After you resolved this with them, I would definitely be changing salons.

  • I called te salon again last night, and spoke with someone different. She told me that I need to wait until the manager is in on Tuesday and that the manager might 'attempt' to fix my hair, might issue a refund, or might not be able to do anything about it. She also told me that I should wash my scalp with Windex to remove the color on my skin... I'm sorry, but that sounds like a horrible idea....

<div>WTF??? That sounds like the most asinine advice I've ever heard. If you have some on your face just use an exfoliating scrub to wash your face then use a bit of rubbing alcohol to take out any left over color. If it's on your scalp where you can't really see it because your hair covers it, who cares, it'll fade. Windex, for real..? </div><div>
</div><div>I'd tell them "might" anything is unacceptable. You paid for a service and they didn't deliver to the standard they should have. They either fix it, refund you, or both. Otherwise I'd start blasting review websites like Yelp with negative reviews and file a complaint through BBB. </div>

  • Call them and have her fix it. don't try and do it yourself you could end up making it worse.

Wow!! reading the rest of your posts made me angry! How DARE they!!! Windex, SERIOUSLY?! ARE THEY STRAIGHT OUT OF 'MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING'??

Go write reviews ASAP on Yelp and BBB and any other site you can find them on (Google, etc), make SURE people around you know about this and people that go there know too. sheesh, what 'great' customer service! Undecided

I'm so sorry that you're having to go through this.
  • Any update???

  • If they haven't done anything yet, I would demand that they PAY to get it fixed elsewhere.. I wouldn't let them "fix" it when they messed it up in the first place =\ I would also have them pay the cancellation fee for your engagement shoot if there is one..I've never had a problem like this in our area, but I've been going to the same person since I've had hair so that may be why :( Sorry you're having to deal with this

  • Update: The manager called me yesterday morning and asked what happened. I told her everything in the first post. She apologized for the issue. And told me to come in so they can fix it. They are currently removing the color/bleaching my hair and they are going to color it as close to my natural color as possible. My engagement photos have been rescheduled to tomorrow evening, and there was no fee for this. The photographer was VERY understanding.
