Odd question

How big are the hamburgers that you fix for your FI or H? I am calculating a friend's kcals and he has two homemade burgers on his 3 day food diary. He's asleep so I need to sort of guesstimate.

Re: Odd question

  • ERm, I don't know....hamburger sized? Sorry.

I thought the title to this post was "old question" at first.
  • I usually get 3 burgers out of a pound of beef. i use extra lean, so I don't feel so guilty. Plus, they don't shrink as much.

When I make burgers theyre usually about the size of my palm and less than 1 inch thick.
  • Okay I figured they were about 5.3 ounces per serving.

Three burgers from one pound sounds about right.

Unless you're tailgating a college football game, get the packsof 1/4pounders and buns.  If it's free and comes with beer, college kids will eat it and probably love you forever
  • Ha OOT! I would love you forever if you gave me free beer and food!

  • I don't get Scott burgers, he makes his own damn burgers.  :P  I can't really help you on size, because I don't eat burgers.

H and I rarely eat burgers... and if we were to cook them, H would be the one making them for me so sadly I cannot answer your question!

Are you still out there, miss Ricks? Note that I came back on your urging! ;P

  • I am here! I miss you too! We need some class around this place :)

  • I think you've reached out to the wrong person in that case! ;P

How are you going dear? Having a good weekend?

What's been happening that I missed?

  • Dang, well, you missed the FFF on E.  We have had some odd trolls. It's been a little less boring than usual.

I am finishing up Organic chem and then I am on to biochem, nothing exciting. I am going to New Orleans at the beginning of August!

  • Congrats on finishing organic chem!

New Orleans sounds exciting! How long are you there for? What sort of things are there to do in New Orleans? I don't know much about it, evidently!

  • This is late, as always.   But  I usually try to get 4 out of a package of meat, which is about a pound.  Sooo 4 oz each, but my old trainer said meet usually loses about an ounce when you cook it?
  • I use extremely lean meat and also average 3 burgers per pound. With extremely lean meat you get a lot less shrinkage. (I use 95%)
  • Another note about ground beef, if you're going to cook and crumble it for sloppy joes or a marinara sauce, etc you can cook it, dump it in to colander and rinse it. I would rinse in warm to hot water. This washes the grease off and doesn't change the taste. Add it to your sauce and you're fine and have a lot less grease/fat.
  • Our burgers are the size of Bubba Burgers, because we're too lazy to make our own.
