Seamstress

Does anyone have an affordable recommendation for a seamstress - preferably in Queens? Also...what should I expect to pay for alterations? I know everything is different but really don't have any idea! Thanks!

The seamstress that did my dress is located in Flushing. She did an excellent job (she used to work at RK Bridal but now works from home) and in a big rush for me. I needed complicated alterations because my dress was way too big for me, so it cost $500, but the person who recommended her in the first place only paid $350 for hers because it was a simpler job. Her name is Sarina 718.261.3786.

  • I know of a professional seamstress in Queens Village. I believe her name is Marie-Jo. I'm not familar with pricing but you can check out her site: http://mjdorgadesigns.com/contact_us

  • I used the wedding dresser, susan ruddie, who is based in Brooklyn, but will travel. She charges for the work she does rather than a flat fee. My dress was expensive... like $700 for alterations, but she took it from a size 14 to a size 4. And it looks fantastic.

I'm using susan as well-- I'm doing more extensive alterations that are running me around $350 but she is very reasonably priced depending on what you need done.

My first appt with Susan is next weekend. I really don't feel like I need a lot done but I am just asking if you were really happy with her work.
