Tiara vs. Veil

I can't decide whether to wear a tiara or veil or both. I realize a veil is traditionally worn for a first time bride only but I would not be wearing it over my face (does this count...lol). This is a second wedding for bride and groom. We are having a casual garden wedding. BTW I am wearing a short wedding dress.

I don't like tiaras at all, so I vote wearing just a veil. There are tons of different styles, lengths, fabrics, etc. A birdcage veil would probably look really nice with a short dress.

its really your preference. personally i am not a tiara fan but thats just me. I think a small veil or "bird cage" would look nice with a short dress.

I have to agree, not a fan of tiaras. But since your wedding will be on the casual side, I also vote for a birdcage veil.

Actually, I'm going to go against the grain and recommend that you go with what compliments your face shape. I personally look stupid as heck with a tiara or birdcage veil, but ok with a regular veil. So, that's the route I went.

My sister, however, has the cuuuutest face, and her birdcage was perfect for her.

I personally think since you mentioned the wedding being slightly casual and you will be wearing a shorter dress a small veil (possibly birdcage) will nicely compliment everything.

I think if someone loves it, they should absolutely wear one. I wore one for my 40th birthday pink party.

But I am just not a fan for weddings. And I am guessing they are somewhat mandatory for someone that is marrying royalty, so my opinion is slightly swayed under those circumstances. I'm guessing the OP isn't marrying a prince though.

Have you tried on either to see what works best with your face shape? To throw another possibility into the mix - what about a hair ornament or flower? It's fine for second-time brides to wear veils. So if you want to wear one, then wear one.

Same thing with a tiara -- if you find one you like that makes you feel beautiful, then go for it:-)

I would recommend you try on your dress with several different options/combinations and see what works best for you.

Another option is an embroidered/bejweled head band instead of a tiara. It lies flat against your head and can be paired with a veil or without depending on your hair style. I've seen some that are beautiful and are a nice alternative. I plan to get one as our wedding day gets closer and I finalize alterations and shoes and other accessories.

I wore both and brought the tiara along with me when I tried on veils. Although my tiara is small and delicate, nothing bulky or over the top. I love both individually and loved how they looked togeher. Do what makes you feel beautiful! A tiara underneath a pretty blusher paired with a short dress sounds really pretty
