what reading are you using?

I'm trying to decide what bible reading we should do for our wedding.  I know that the "Love is Patient Love is Kind" verse is used often and it is good, I just want to find something that's not used as often.  Any ideas?

Thanks Ladies.

    We are using 1 John 4:7-12

     Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

    We haven't picked out ours yet, but here are a couple I had found, starting with one of my personal favorites:

    Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church— for we are members of his body. “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
    --Ephesians 5:22-33

    Two are better than one,
       because they have a good return for their labor:
    If either of them falls down,
       one can help the other up.
    But pity anyone who falls
       and has no one to help them up.
    Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
       But how can one keep warm alone?
    Though one may be overpowered,
       two can defend themselves.
    A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
    -- Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

    (The following Psalm, noted as a wedding song, took me some meditation to begin to understand, but it is quite beautiful.)

    My heart is stirred by a noble theme
       as I recite my verses for the king;
       my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.

    You are the most excellent of men
       and your lips have been anointed with grace,
       since God has blessed you forever.
    Gird your sword upon your side, O mighty one;
       clothe yourself with splendor and majesty.
    In your majesty ride forth victoriously
       in behalf of truth, humility and righteousness;
       let your right hand display awesome deeds.
    Let your sharp arrows pierce the hearts of the king’s enemies;
       let the nations fall beneath your feet.
    Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever;
       a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.
    You love righteousness and hate wickedness;
       therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions
       by anointing you with the oil of joy.
    All your robes are fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia;
       from palaces adorned with ivory
       the music of the strings makes you glad.
    Daughters of kings are among your honored women;
       at your right hand is the royal bride in gold of Ophir.

    Listen, O daughter, consider and give ear:
       Forget your people and your father’s house.
    The king is enthralled by your beauty;
       honor him, for he is your lord.
    The Daughter of Tyre will come with a gift,
       men of wealth will seek your favor.

    All glorious is the princess within her chamber;
       her gown is interwoven with gold.
    In embroidered garments she is led to the king;
       her virgin companions follow her
       and are brought to you.
    They are led in with joy and gladness;
       they enter the palace of the king.

    Your sons will take the place of your fathers;
       you will make them princes throughout the land.
    I will perpetuate your memory through all generations;
       therefore the nations will praise you for ever and ever.
    --Psalm 45

    Place me like a seal over your heart,
       like a seal on your arm;
    for love is as strong as death,
       its jealousy unyielding as the grave.
    It burns like blazing fire,
       like a mighty flame.
    Many waters cannot quench love;
       rivers cannot sweep it away.
    If one were to give
       all the wealth of one’s house for love,
       it would be utterly scorned.
    --Song of Songs 8:6-7

    I've got several others in my bio, including a couple about the bride of Christ, another psalm, and one from Ruth. I also second the inevitable suggestion from Genesis. HTH!

    ...p.s. Sorry about the font size, I've been copy/pasting and I can't fix it :P

    Thanks ladies! I love the Ecclesiates 4:9-12 reading!  I am going to have to run that by Fiance but I've never heard that one read in a wedding so it is different but so fitting for a wedding!

    We are totally undecided about most of the details surrounding the ceremony... the pastor will discuss the ceremony with us in about 2 to 3 weeks from now.  I love some of the readings that you all have posted.  I know my pastor will have some suggestions.  We aren't planning (at this time) to have a separate person do a reading since we'll have 3 songs, but we shall see what the pastor says!! :-)
    July 16, Our Wedding Day, is also International Juggling Day!

    Colossians 3:12-17
    12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

     15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
