I heard about centerpieces that are also the wedding favors. Does anybody have any ideas for an evening July wedding. I am looking to minimize cost as much as possible.
my best friend's mom mentioned an auction-off type thing. if you tape the table number under one of the seats, the guest who sits at that seat gets to take the centerpiece home as a favor. she said that this would work best with fake flowers, so the flowers can decorate their home. but even taking fresh ones home would be nice.
I've seen a lot of brides doing a cake stand in the center with the cute favor boxes piled up on it to make tiers, then at the end of the night they can just grab thier favors right off the table and it's less for you to have to clean up and pack away.
Personally, I am using these really pretty fall crackle votive and tea light holders that I got at yankee candle and we are going to do something like the stickers under the chair to give some of them away at the end of the night.
You can always do DIY centerpieces with a tall vase, fake flowers inside filled with water, and a floating candle..... then do the auction thing......
I am doing that for our wedding along with a CD with a mix of the songs that will be played that night.... easy to DIY as well for favors (one per couple)
i feel that the DIY from a store like Michle's is alwasy the best way to go and easy on the pocket.
We are having terra cotta pots with daisies. We are welcoming guests to take them as they leave. If you wanted everyone to be able to take one as a favor, you could have multiple pots in varying sizes that coordinated and guests could take one as they leave.
my sister gave favors out, but since she didn't need a ton of wreaths, she did a raffle for each table. all she had to do was have the dj announce that 1 chair at each table had a dot underneath that the reception coordinator put there beforehand.
I've seen all of the previously mentioned ones, and it seemed to work well each time. I've also seen pull-apart centerpieces once where it looked like one floral centerpiece but it was actually made up of several small pots/vases. The last one I saw where the favors decorated the table were personalized candles that guests took home with them at the end.
The one problem with using centerpieces as favors is that you have to make sure people know they're supposed to take them. I've seen them left behind a lot when they're not traditional favors in organza bags or mini boxes, so you might have someone spread the word or make an announcement at the reception.
Please don't do the sticker under the table thing. I probably do not want your centerpiece, if I did, MAYBE I MIGHT ask where to get the stuff to make/buy one. If you made me turn my chair over like a dummy, I would be a little upset or embarrassed and feel obligated to take it even if I didn't like it.
Another easier( than crawling under a chair) possibility to give away the CP is to have the person at the table whose birthday is closest to the wedding day get the CP.
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
Maybe you can have the oldest person at the table gather their seating cards and have the youngest at the table select a card and that person gets the CP.
What is the theme of your wedding or the colors? We can't just go on a July wedding for ideas.
For my favors I got Yankee Candle votives and put them in a littl bag and attaching the seating card to them. So it's one candle per couple.
I like the idea of giving away the centerpiece and understand the savings financially. However, in my personal opinion, I think everyone should get a favor. I am also not a fan of having guests check under their seats or plates or anything like that. With that said everyone's style is different and you know your guests best. My suggestion would be to do a centerpiece that breaks up so everyone can take one though. Another suggestion...I am doing a framed picture cube (from Michaels...painted of course) and filled with flowers surrounded by demasked votive candles. I plan on personally picking who takes the centerpiece (cube) by writing a card to certain people to thank them (etiher for their help with the wedding, throughout our lifes, etc.) This will save me from having way to many after the wedding and also give a gift to those behind the scenes that I feel are normally left out since you can not include everyone in the wedding. If you do something like this you can then have everyone take home a votive holder or two depending on how many you have.
