How much did you pay for photography?

I'm looking at a package right now for $3500. It includes 12 hours of coverage, engagement session, storybook album (whatever that means) and digital proofs.

How much are you guys paying?

Re: How much did you pay for photography?

  • It really varies by region.  In my area, the typical package is about $2500 or more.  You probably want to post on your local board to find out what brides in your area are paying, and also to get recommendations on local photographers.

  • Yeah, it does vary by region, but that sounds like a good deal to me!

  • We're looking at something between $2,500 and $3,000...including an album with most of the packages and rights to our photos, and at least 5 hours of service.

  • $1600 - includes 9 hours of coverage at 3 locations, a leather album with 50 pictures, a DVD of ALL pictures taken and the copyrights so I can print as many pictures as I want.  Also, the company is giving each guest a $20 gift card to purchase our pictures.
  • That's toward to higher end of prices I've seen online, and I would not pay that much.  I'm hoping to stay under $1000 but will go over that if I have to.
  • Depends on the region and the kind of photography you are going for... I paid $3000 for unlimited coverage, 2 photographers, engagement photos, all digital rights... I would say the average in my area is around $2000. I thought my photographer's quality and photojournalistic style was the best I'd seen.

It is definitely regional.  We will pay about $1200.  That includes: all-day/unlimited coverage, 500-1000 photos, an edited DVD slideshow, a CD with the raw images, a coffee table book with 35 pages of images (up to 9 photos each page), a 19x13 wall photograph, and copyright release.  Any additional 8x10 print sheets are $3 each, and the quality of her work is very good.
  • What you spend really depends on your budget. Think the average is around 12% (give or take)

  • Looks like we're going to be paying right around $2k.  That includes eight hours of coverage, our album, albums for our parents, mini albums for our attendants, and travel fees for SoCal to Vegas.  We may purchase the digital rights after the wedding.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • We were definitely at the low end.  The ceremony was in Massachusetts, and the reception was back home in DC, so the photographer was only doing the ceremony.  We also have a friend who is a bookbinder who is doing our album.  We therefore got three hours of coverage plus a CD of high resolution edited images, with a release to enable us to use the photos however we wanted, for $400.
  • we are paying 3300.00 I learned it depends on the photography you want, journalistic or traditional, the amount of time it takes on touch up plus the whole package. We are getting 2 photographers an 8x11 wedding album, a proof book with all 900 pictures, and a cd with all 900 pictures...plus her incredible talent, which she has been doing this for 20+yrs. i have a friend who paid a little bit for her photog, her pictures came out dark and she actually never got re-touches. It all depends on your style, your budget and also be sure to check the business bureau to make sure they are legit and have never got complaints pressed against them....better safe then sorry.
  • ldcf11206;  Who did you use in Baltimore??? We are looking for a photographer right now too.
  • I just got quoted at $1999 plus tax and that's for my photographer and videographer.  2 people, 8 hours, 4 locations, 2 video cameras.  With that I get the raw video footage on DVD, all pictures on a CD and the copyrights to both.  For the photos, I get 1,000-1,500 pictures, one 10x10 50 photo album and 2 5x5 duplicates for our parents, an 11x14 wall picture and 100 wallet thank yous along with $20 gift cards to the photo website for all my guests.
  • We are paying $500.  That includes an engagement session, a CD w/ full copyrights of the engagement pictures, 6 hours of coverage ($50 each additional hour, if needed), as many locations as we want, a disk of all of the unedited and edited photos taken.  I'm in the metro-detroit area.  We received our engagement photo CD last week and she has done an AMAZING job!!
  • What was the name of your photographer in the metro-Detroit area? The one I'm looking at is $1250 and I'd like to go cheaper if I can :)

  • $1200 which inclues 2 photographers, all day coverage, engagement session and a DVD of everything (touched up and with rights).  We found someone who was newer so they know they could charge a lot more but wanted to get their name out - for the quality/style we were going for everyone else was 2500+.  We were looking for more of an artsy style...not something our friends could do with a point and shoot or formal shots.
  • We're paying $800 for an all day unlimited package including engagement photos and editing. Our photographer is incredible and we lucked out finding him for that price. In my area the average wedding package is about 3500 to 6000 dollars and I had met with about 10 photographers before I stumbled across our photographer. There are definitely talented photographers out there that are not outrageously priced it just takes some time to find them.

  • We paid $4550. But in this we get: 10 hours coverage, 2 parent albums, engagement session, proof book, 11x14 album, thank you cards with our wedding photo on it, a 16x20 framed wedding photo, online viewing, personalized event cards, proof images on DVD. I really like this b/c I have everything all taken care of in this package, and I think this photographer is very talented.
  • I paid right at $2,000 for 6 hours, engagement session, bridal portraits, 4 free engagement 5x7 prints, 16x20 canvas bridal portrait in a frame of my choosing, $150 credit for prints of wedding photos, CD of all photos, and 20 page coffe table book.
