Yacht Cruise Weddings

Hello fellow knotties,
Does anyone have any experiences on the yacht cruises, particularly in Newport?

I would like to know what you remembered, liked disliked and felt needed improvement. I am getting married in June and would like to know how I can make my wedding better.

Thank you for your input!

I haven't been on one for a wedding specifically, but FI's company has done the boat cruise for years for their holiday party.  Here's my take on them from my holiday party attendee perspective - hope it helps!

    The good (for the company):
-With an open bar, there was a "sobriety monitor" as we exited the boat to make sure those who had consumed alcohol in excess weren't planning to drive.
-No one was able to "escape" early and everyone participated in the activities, dancing, etc.
-There's a defined start and finish of the event

    The bad (for the attendee):
-We were "stuck" until the boat returned to the dock - I got really seasick the first year (windy, choppy seas - even in the bay).
-We watched a couple people who were late the first year miss the boat

    Neutral:
-I noticed that compared to non-boat cruise parties, people drank more on the boat.  Without the thought of walking around and driving, it seemed like people felt more free to continue having a full glass.

With my ex, we had our ceremony on the beach and reception on a yacht.  It broke up the yacht time and we got better pictures, (not all on a boat).  It was fun! We did a work party on a yacht before too, and had casino tables, so that gave people something to do, rather than just drkink.

My daughter is getting married in September 2010 with Electra Cruises in Newport Beach.  I haven't found a lot of blogs on theknot, but on Brides.com there are many comments about Electra.  We've heard a lot of good things about them and our experience so far has been great.  You can check out their website at www.electracruises.com. Good luck in your search!

I am actually booked with Electra as well! Any tips on her venders? We are having a hard time deciding on a florist. I have not heard much in line of weddings on the boat, so I wanted to get some feedback.
    Thanks for all your replies!
