Maggie Sottero- Florencia Strapless??

Hey ladies, has any once else purchased the Maggie Sottero Florencia dress? and do you know if you can make it strapless?? Thanks!!!

Re: Maggie Sottero- Florencia Strapless??

  • I work in a bridal gown store that sells quite a few Sottero dresses and unfortunately Maggie Sottero is very strict about her "what you see is what you get" policy. They don't customize any of their designs. You could, however, take the dress to someone who does alterations and they might be able to make it strapless. My one concern would be that sometimes when a dress has straps they designed it that way because the bottom of the dress is heavy. This dress does, however, have the corset back, which you could conform to your body to keep it from falling down. My best piece of advice would be to go to a bridal store that has this dress, try it on, and slip the straps off your shoulders to see if the bodice itself can hold up the bottom of the dress. If it feels pretty secure and you love the dress write down what fabric it is and take a picture of the dress to an alterations specialist. They should then be able to tell you whether or not it can be made strapless. Hope this helps!

  • I already purchased the dress, just waiting for it to come in but ill give it a try. THanks!!
  • I hope you can find an alterations person who can fix it so its strapless. Like I said, the corset back should help keep it up and I'm suspecting that it could be made strapless. Best of luck to you!

  • Maggie Sottero I like very much, you say I have met, no tags that this is the copy.

  • That was the first dress that I tried on when I started looking for dresses, and it is veryyy heavy.  It is a beautiful dress as is, and I feel like you would take away from the dress if you removed the straps.  Maybe leave the strap that has the flowers on, and remove the other strap.  This way you keep the beauty of the dress, the one strap will keep it from falling down and have one side strapless.  Just a thought Smile
