Someone please tell me where to get my invitations!

Ok, so I have finally decided that I need to go with inexpensive invitations rather than the pocket folds I fell in love with at mygatsby. There is just no sense in spending $700 on invitations when 95% are going to get tossed.

How do you guys feel about Vistaprint? I ordered my Save the Dates from them and was happy with them, but I didn't really pay attention to the card stock etc.

I hear people print them on their own. Where do you buy the kits? I have seen some at Joanne's but they didn't work for my theme.

I would really LOVE to just find someone to do them for me. I want to spend $250 for 100 invites, rsvp cards, envelopes and a reception card. Something nice and formal, but not super fancy.

Michaels has a bunch, some are really cute, and they are 30% off from now until Sat or Sun!!!!

Kelly, H and I had that exact same thinking as well. Have you tried etsy.com? I have heard good things about vistaprint.com. Also, if you or your FI are computer savvy, you could design them yourself especially if you have Adobe Professional. That is an awesome program.

Or what about the DIy kits from Michael's and Hobby Lobby. We used those for our wedding.

Also, there is a local nestie over on the private board that I frequent who does invites for all sorts of things. I can't remember her name or site right now (my computer is still packed), but I asked over there, so hopefully I will have a response for you soon.

I have been looking on the DIY board and they talk about you can buy the design on etsy and then they buy their pockets and card stock on cardsandpockets.com. Depending on what you get they are .69-.80 cents per pocket and cards stock you can get design your own or bulk.

Looking into it I think that is the route we are going to go becuase I agree it is outrageous to spend that much money for something that no one saves. But I am all about the DIY because then it takes up time and I am not changing my mind on everything.

    You guys are great!

Unfortunately, I am not the design type. I'm just not gifted in the arts unfortunately.

I have been on etsy, everything I seem to find is for complete invitations and it's pretty pricey. I would love the name of the person on there that sells everything separate.

@Missy- I will check both of them out. Thank you!

I can help if you want more info on vistaprint! I used them for my save the dates and invitations (which I'm actually am just getting ready to send) and am really happy with them! I love the coordinating sets! it's just so nice that everything is pulled together and cohesive.

As far as the quality of the material, I am also really happy.  They are so inexpensive that I just had to go with them.  I used both the basic matte finish & the upgraded matte finish and have been very happy with both. There are also other options that you can pay slightly more for like a linen finish. I'd definitely recommending them if you're looking to save some money!

I got 200 invitations and 200 RSVP cards from Vistaprint for under $150.  They were great, the cardstock was good quality (not cheap, but obvi not super fantastic).  And.....I have received SOOOOOOOOO many compliments on them! Seriously.  I'll send you/give you one if you want to check it out before buying them from vistaprint.

Here's how they turned out (p.s. the back has full color printing and a map that we added, they both cost extra, but not too much, and still kept it under the $150)

Hey Kelly.  I replied to your email before I saw your post.  Did you want a design that's similar to mine or did you just want to use that font? Let me know what you want to do because I could design them for you if you tell me what you have in mind.  Email me and let me know.  It'll cost you nothing but my time.  FI and I are currently making the drive from Washington state to Defiance, OH to do a race and we'll be back by Monday night.  I could get started on it on Tuesday and then just email you the file so you can upload it to Vistaprint.  I ordered their premium card stock and mailed my invites last Monday and so far people think that we spent a fortune on them.  If they only knew it only cost a fraction of what they think it cost!

I got my invitations from twoyellowshoes on etsy. She took my info and plugged it into one of her designs for $50. Then I went to office max and had them printed on nice cardstock. When all was said and done I paid about 130. Definitely look her up! She is very responsive as well and I had a first draft emailed to me within a day.

You could try Occasionaly Custom Correspondence. I'm not sure exactly how much she charges, but you could give her your budget and see if she can work with it. Their designs are really awesome and unique, so you know they will be different than everyone else's. Here is the link to her FB page. I don't think they have a regular website yet. http://www.facebook.com!/OccasionallyCC

I made all of our invitations. I started with a kit from Michaels (they have a lot, and so does Joannes and Hobby Lobby), but I altered the kit a lot to make a pocketfold and added an information, map, and Directions card to what the original kit had. They turned out great, and I have had lots of compliments!!

If you are looking for a local person to do them for you, I found the best deal with Alternative Hitches.  I met with 4 others that wanted  $5+ per invite.  Ya, right!  You get a discount if you just order from her online.  They also had a 100 for 100 deal (100 invites for $100) for something a little more simple or if you use their current design for example.  everything is printed and cut, you just have to assemble.

I loved the pockets too so I ended up designing my own (simple design), printed on cardstock I bought from Paper and More, cut each down to size, and then glue to pockets that I bought from the same company.

I plan on going with Vistaprint. I got the wedding sample kit and I was impressed with the cardstock, which was what I was intially worried about.  They have a lot of cute designs you can customize or you can design your own completely.
Mixbook.com also has some cute flat invitations, just no matching items that Vistaprint has. I got a groupon for mixbook & was thinking about using it for invites, save the dates or maybe a photo guestbook.

Just bought my invitation kit at target a 50pk for $40 and a friend of my just printed hers at Kinkos for $.09 each. That is my next step. I also found really nice kits on amazon.com.

I made mine myself but like you I really wanted the pocket envelopes. I ended up going to paperandmore.com (because of someone else's post advice) and made a fairly complicated invitation for $2.40 including the pocket. I had 4 insert cards, RSVP card and 4bar return envelope, the base invite paper and a background card to frame the base invitation. All of that plus the A7 envelopes to mail it all with. Then my mom drew a cherry branch design on the invite base and I scanned it into the computer. I printed it all out on my dad's copy machine and spent a lot of nights cutting. While it wasn't fast, I got the pocket invitation I was really wanting and for less that half the price most places were offering. If it hadn't worked, my plan B was to go with alternative hitches because they had the 100 for $100 deal. But that wasn't with pockets and I am glad I went the route I did. Plus it turned into a whole family affair which was kind of nice.  In case you are wondering about postage, my postage per invite was 64 cents plus the 44 cent return stamp.

I just got mine back from Zazzle.com and they look great. It was about $1.95 per invite and I found a coupon with took them under $1.50. They have thousands of designs and you can add as you please.

I ordered my paper through www.paperandmore.com. I used the cream pearlescent metallic cardstock and it is beautiful!!! AND only 27.99 for 100 sheets ( I will be able to get two invites per sheet). Staples will print 150 for $35. The envelopes are just as gorgeous ( I used the Rose Pink). You can order samples of whatever you would like first which was very helpful. I used a template off of wedding chicks. I can't believe how amazing my invites look and I did them all for less than $150!! I will also be able to use the left over cardstock for my programs.. Who needs to spend $500+ when you can DIY and look just as nice! Hope this helps!!
