Dress: Do you get this feeling?

So I picked up my dress yesterday and I was pretty excited, but when I put it on it was nice, but it didn't feel like it did the first time I put it on. Don't get me wrong, I still really like it and I am very excited to wear it. But I was hoping to get REALLY excited again and "fall back in love" :)

Is this normal?

Re: Dress: Do you get this feeling?

  • I don't have that feeling with mine, but I've heard of several brides who do. I do fall in love with mine all over again every time I put it on. Different people react in different ways. :)
  • Are you going through a wedding planning slump? Sometimes it can be a tad bit overwhelming.  I never cried when I got my dress, but I knew it was the one and felt beautiful.  I also think I could have tormented myself trying to find THE ONE but when I found one and felt it, I went with it.
  • That's true, midge :)

It did make everything feel REALLY REAL though. OMG! I'm getting married :) Is it June, yet?!

This could totally be it. My mom and I drove 2 hours to the salon to pick it up. And we talked wedding ALL the way. I was feeling a little overwelmed, for sure. Good point.

This was me too. I bought the second dress I tried on because it had everything I wanted, a sweetheart neckline, a-line skirt, corset back. It's everything I wanted, but I don't really have an emotional attachment to it.
  • Alli- I felt the same way when I tried my dress on in December when it FINALLY came in. It kind of worried me! I still liked it a lot, but I was really doubting myself. I was in last week and tried it on again, and fell in love with it all over again. I didnt want to take it off! I think I was just feeling overwhelmed in Decembner and now I am just back to being excited :)

  • I don't have an emotional attachment to mine either. It is pretty, in my price range, and fits well. I wasn't really into the dress much anyway, it isn't that important to me.

  • Love this! Felt this way today when I booked our hotel for the wedding night!:0)

My dress was not what I was looking for when I went into David's Bridal. I did not want strapless, but that's the one I felt the most beautiful in.  I was actually second guessing myself when I left, wondering if I got the right one.  Once I got home and looked over the pictures, I knew I'd made the right decision.  I love all the bead-work on it and the corset back.  My only reservation about it is that it's strapless and I'm not a strapless kind of girl.

I've got an appointment for next month for alterations and I'm excited to try it on again!
  • Yeah, I have done that when I have tried on my dress.
I think once I get it altered and it fits me better I will fall in love with it again :)
  • I never cried when I put mine on either. However I loved how I looked and felt in the dress and still do when I go to try it on. I have it hidden in my Grandma's closet and I have been trying it on to see how much progress I am doing on my weight loss. I would never change my dress for whatever reason. There is a reason you picked out the dress in the first place. Just keep that in the back of your mind. It might also just be nerves...

<div>Maybe you could have some straps added to the dress when you go for alterations.  I didn't want strapless either, so I'm having one added to my dress.</div>

  • My dress is just a beautiful dress to me. My dream dress that I have wanted for like 7 years is unobtainable. I'm happy with it and I didn't have the issue of not being in love with it either time I put it on. I really really like it though.

It probably is a slump. There is a reason you fell in love with it in the first place. Just remind yourself of all the reasons why you did the first time around. ;)

  • It is probably just a slump. I am a crier... Over everything and I didnt cry I actuallyhad a panic attack! So much money (my own money too) after thinking about the decision I bought it. In January when I tried it on I cried and was beaming!
  • Everyone has such good insight!! :) Thanks!

    I've thought about it.  It's a possiblity!
  • I had this exact same experience.  When I first tried on my dress I absolutely fell in love, cried, the whole 9 yards.  Then when I went back when it came in to try it on, I brought my MOH with me because she hadn't seen it the first time, and I didn't have that feeling!  I sorta faked it and didn't really say anything to anyone, but everytime I look at pictures of myself in it I feel better.  I have another appt on April 14th, hopefully I get the feeling again!!!
