Re: DIY- What do you have in the making?

  • Holy moly! You are one crafty gal! I need to finish up my BM hangers and our favors, but that's about it as far as DIY! My grandma and I were also going to make cookies or chocolate covered pretzels for the OOT welcome bags, but obviously that can't be done until much closer to the time.

My biggest project is/was the stationery. I bought recycled "flecked" cardstock & cut it to size. I bought rubber stamps on Etsy, and some ink from Michael's. I did thank-you cards, invitations, and favor tags so far. (aside: our wedding is a luncheon, and we're having a dinner that night with our nuclear families. So, I also made matching "inserts" for that). As far as the rest of the paper, I still have placecards, programs, signage, menus, & pinwheels to cut/glue/print.

I think it's important to note that I've got lots of craft supplies and a Cricut at my disposal for little things like envelopes, die-cuts, & paper flowers/leaves, etc.. Otherwise, I think it would be way too many paper projects for one person.

Oh, and don't do what I did. My favorite shade of yellow stamping ink ended up being a Limited Edition color. Oops. It made it so I had to buy a new ink pad every time I ran out.. it would have been lots cheaper to just buy BOTTLES of ink and refill the pad. Oh well, live and learn.

  • I did my invitations and thank you sign.  I am definitely not a crafty person and even FI was surprised at the two things I did.

  • I surprised myself with how crafty I got with our wedding, but I didn't go all out because I work 50+ hours a week too and haven't had the time/energy.  But here's my list:

-table numbers with I Spy cards on the backside
-coffee filter pomanders for aisle decorations (half done...story of my life)
-table centerpieces (all are different vintage candle holders and/or floating candle bowls)
-here comes the bride sign (still to do)
    -seating chart
    -blackboard signs (still to do)

I included 2 pictures, one of a half done pomander (with my cat that helped...lol) and one of my table signs.  That's all I have on my phone, and I'm at work sooo I can't get any more pics.  :)  And I apologize for the crappy resolution... again, cell phone pics.

Oh man! Our DIY hasn't even begun yet!  LOL
First on the list will be doing the enclosure cards for the invitations!

    Then...
-paper cones for the pew markers
-spray paint the lanterns (she wants them teal, not the plain metal)
    -Welcome Bags
    -Seating Chart window frame
    -Favor Tags
    -Programs
    -Dessert Buffet tags
-Reception signs if we decide we need them

Now that the holidays are over we will start in on our projects pronto!
  • I made a sample centerpiece (doing paper butterflies on curly ting in vases), so I still have about 21 of those to do.
I already customized the card cage, flower girl basket, and ring bearer pillow.
I am tying ribbons around all of the bubbles and am almost done with that.
I have to make the program fans and table numbers...and I'm on the fence about the escort cards.  I was going to order the ones that come with plantable butterfly seed paper, but I won't know how many to order until a few weeks before the wedding, and then it might be too late to order...so I'm either just going to have to order enough for 100% attendance or make my own without the seeds.
    I think that was it...

  • I'm currently working on a scrapbook for us, seating chart, escort cards, and raffia/starfish hangers (for our chairs that line the aisle).  I've already finnished pomanders for the flower girls (2) and 6 smaller pomanders for the candy buffet decoration.

Damg, i gotta get some of this done!  :)
